My New S4...!

Post by cliveyboy » Wed Oct 27, 2004 2:10 pm

Thanks to all of you who have contributed to my threads about my search for the "right car". I found it, bought it, but it comes with one little snag (which was accounted for in the price)...

It was a long & winding road (quite literally) in finding this little beauty, but the fun isn't over yet! I did the deal on the back of the description & photos and drew up a contract which, amongst other things, said that the car would be exactly as described and drive as should.

On arrival some 400 miles away from the comfort of my home, it was exactly as described - except it splutters under load (above 4,500rpm, almost as if it has hit the rev limiter). As I say, we agreed a price reduction but I realise I have taken a big risk. It's going into the local Audi stealers for diagnosis on Friday, but in the meantime if anyone has experienced this or has any ideas as to what's wrong so I'm not ripped off, any advice would be gratefully received.

I will post some pics and the full story soon...

Yes it's a risk, but there are some simple problems (e.g. MAF) which could be causing it. You don't need me to tell you to keep off heavy engine load until it is fixed...

thanks Dippy - yes, I'm hoping it's something as simple as that (someone else has mentioned MAF sensor to me), and yes, I'm taking it easy until it's fixed. In fact, I'm not driving it at all - I'm using the Porsche - sounds flash, I know, but it's an old 924S!

Yes, I'm hoping - plugs, HT leads, airleak, MAF sensor...
Cheers Dunc
