Hello all, I've given some thought to upgrading the brakes of my S4 to RS4 specification. The previous owner had already added the front discs/calipers when I purchased the car.

I have a couple of questions; Are they difficult to fit, and what should I expect to pay for a second hand set of rear discs and calipers?

I think the lack of response is due to the fact that most people would recommend you not to do it!!!

The back brakes do so little of the braking, they shouldn't need upgrading if they're in good working condition.

I have Porker 993 turbo brakes on the front and standard Audi on the back (although they're painted red ) and I've never had the need to think about upgrading the rears.

Just my opinion (but at least you've now had one reply!!).

If you get the black front Porsche calipers they you don't feel the need to paint the rear ones

My S4 has RS4 rear brakes. QST did me some second hand ones for £400, and then charged me the cost of fitting them, which I don't think was much. Given that QST probably made a profit on selling them to me, you should be able to get them for less than £400 - depending on how many miles they have done (I think mine had done about 10,000 miles).
I agree with the comments above about the vast mojority of the breaking effort being carried out by the front brakes. You only really need RS4 rears for track use. Even with super-dupa uprated front ones, the whole braking system will not cope during prolonged track use due to the standard S4 rear brakes. They cannot disipate the heat as they are too weedy and this eventually leads to a boiling and thinning of the brake fluid, and consequent brake fade.

QST tend not to make a profit on second hand parts as they sell them on behalf of the customers.

£400 is a fair price from trade or private IMO
