Suspension
I have a quick suspension question.
I have just bought some B6 Alloys for my B5 S4. Now at the moment with the 17inch wheels the car does feel like it's crashing over potholes or uneven roads.
I know getting bigger wheels wont help, but does the H&R suspension setup help stop the crashing over these holes. Or is it always going to be?
I just happen to live in a semi-rural area, so a lot of the roads are crap!
cheers guys

I've had H&R coilovers for a while now. I love the handling improvements, but 'crashing' is a good description of the ride quality on bad roads.
Recently I got some 18" wheels. It crashes a bit more now!

Does fitting the H&R reduce the cars tendancy to understeer on damp or wet roads..... my mate has a Mitsubishi Galant VR4 and the turn in on that is pretty hot and thats standard......
Prawn, I would but I looked at the cost..... ouch.... would have to sell the wife
Anyone got any good suppliers of Wheel Spacers, I gather I will require 30mm on the front and 50mm on the rear to accomodate the new S4 wheels......

It does to an significant extent, yes. I'd say try and drive one which is so equipped.Does fitting the H&R reduce the cars tendancy to understeer on damp or wet roads..... my mate has a Mitsubishi Galant VR4 and the turn in on that is pretty hot and thats standard......
Go for MTM or Abt hub centric ones.Anyone got any good suppliers of Wheel Spacers, I gather I will require 30mm on the front and 50mm on the rear to accomodate the new S4 wheels......
I hope you are wrong with the sizes, as they will have your wheels way out of the arches. I'm pretty sure Carps did it with 3mm or so front and rear. Do a search for the thread B6 S4 wheels in this forum.
Wish I could get that much for the wife !gavsteryoung wrote: Prawn, I would but I looked at the cost..... ouch.... would have to sell the wife![]()
Seriousley though, I found the H&R to be 'crashy' over potholes etc and I wanted more range of adjustment between hard and soft settings, however they were 10 times better than the std suspension.
There is the stasis tracksports, you still get custom valving and you can choose your spring rates.

Phil, thanks for the offer of try before you buy but I think it maybe a little far for me to travel.
It hard enough to find someone in the Kent area with an S4 anyway! Let alone modified one!
Phil, can you supply good name spacers?

Agreed. I love my Track Sports and I imagine the Motorsports would be even better.Prawn wrote:Get the Stasis Motorsports mate, do it right first time.

Agreed, the H&Rs transform the handling.Prawn wrote: Seriousley though, I found the H&R to be 'crashy' over potholes etc and I wanted more range of adjustment between hard and soft settings, however they were 10 times better than the std suspension.
Regarding the 'crashing', don't forget it really does depend on the sort of roads you drive on. For me I guess 80% of the time it's not a problem, so for the other 20% of roads I tolerate it.

Kent to Pembrokeshire hmm....A fair way !!
I generaly stock two types:
H+R for the adaptor type spacers, this enables you the fit Porsche wheels to various cars and I use Eibach for the track widening spacers.
I am faitly sure Eibach range is from 5mm up to 30mm with the wider spacers longer bolts are supplied.

Davit you have a pm......Some info for the forum....
Eibach supply spacers at 5mm these are £25 a pair, I am fairly sure you will not need to change the bolts with the 5mm spacer when running standard wheels.
The next size spacer Eibach do is 8mm (£28 a pair) these you will probably need longer bolts, in this instance
I supply either a OZ or BBS fitting kit. These kits contain longer bolts The BBS kit has a locking wheel bolt inc
The OZ kit is £25 the BBS is £45
