Think my MAF is on its way out, as the car is rather tempremental, and down on power slightly. This will be my 3rd Bosch MAF....
Has anyone got the Hitachi MAF? Are they worth the extra money?
Thanks

Well on my S4 I have noted on every occasion previously that the car starts to behave differently - i.e. one minute the power seems to be down, the next its fine....with power loss becoming more and more frequent.....will get it checked though. Wondered if anyone had retrofitted the Hitachi MAF and whether it seemed better value (the Hitachi MAF sensor is a bit more expensive I think....)
Thanks

You will need a new ECU and instrument cluster recoding to use the Hitachi MAF.

Having read about the MAF problems that I don't have, I would indeed say that it is better. But as Verruckt says, conversion is not cheap or simple (the wiring is different too).

Ok thanks for the replies. Having a word with AWE Tuning about their fuelling kit anyway which happens to have a MAF with it. Will see what they say...

For the AWE fuelling kit you need different turbos fitting and ECU updating, last time I checked they only do this for US/ECU cars. Not European models. Hitachi/Bosch MAF isn't 1:1 swap AFAIK.

Also diagnosing the MAF is pretty straightforward. Simply unplug it (the wiring not physically!). Take it out for a test drive. Soon tell if it's the MAF. Don't recomend running like this for anything other than a quick test.
