Ok, thought my first upgrade would be a cheap one.... have heard good things about the Snub Mount for the S4
Now Awesome-GTI want £68 including VAT and delivery.... seems a bit much when
www.goapr.co.uk says there £35
Anyone know where I can get it cheaper, or do I need to order from the States.
thanks Guys

Go for £35 - that's as cheap as I've seen. I still have mine unfitted as I sold my S4 before I got the snub mount. I have been considering fitting it to my RS4 but it was hinted on here that the S4 and RS4 have different engine mountings and it has never been confirmed when I asked.

Golich,
you cant actually buy the product from the goapr site. They point you to the dealers that sell them. Thats when I phoned Awesome-GTI.
I dont know if £35 is the RRP but Awesome obviously dont think so....
You dont fancy selling yours do you?

Fitting this mod = much time consumption. much grazing of knuckles, many cursey words spoken and little perceived difference...
If you get the blue version, it would be better used (and more attractive) as a paperweight than fitted to the car...

ECS have them at $92. Alternative suggestion, you try Jim at Star.He seems highly regarded, after the above comment would see how much they would charge to fit as well.

I will definitely be interested in selling mine if it won't fit the RS. But to be honest I've been talking about looking into it for about six months. So I'm not a reliable option. However, I know Jim at Star Performance can get you one. Give him a call.
Part of the reason for not doing anything is what David said. There's a bit of work involved in getting the thing in there and my new garage isn't quite set up yet.

Do you think fitting problems would be eased if the car was up on a hydralic lift, or is it always going to be a nightmare to fit.
I have the use of a lift and a pit.....

A lift would help, but the main problem is the bumper has to come off and the rad has to be pulled foward - suggest if you do go agead with this, combine the fitting of the snub mount with other work in the same area i.e. RS4 IC's, cambelt change, .
IMHO the snub mount made an noticable difference on my car (96k miles) - reduced movement in gearstick when on/off throttle, less drivetrain shunt, well worth £35.

It would be a nightmare without lift / pit... I used the latter + a friend who didn't mind having his fingers repeatedly trapped behind the radiator.
Again, I maintain that even with the best will in the world, I could detect no difference, not even any of the reported extra vibrations.

It won't be a cheap one since you have to spend a lot of money in labor.
Try a short shifter

So it's a (relatively) cheap part, but expensive to fit, and the results are subjective.
What about the AWE DTS? More expensive part but presumably cheaper to fit - are the results more consistently better?

Star Performance in Fife quoted £75 inc VAT and P&P. Was rather disappointed by this given that its $49 in the US. Since I was going to be ripped off anyway I bought directly from APR in the US and paid £58. $49 for the part and $55 for UPS Express delivery. If I'd more time before the service I would have had a friend buy it in the US and send it by cheaper mail methods or maybe tried a small group order to share the UPS charges.

Have gone the A.W.E. Drive Train Stabilizer bar.
Car is at AMD now being fitted, to much labour in fitting the snub mount.
Had all the engine and gearbox mounts changed earlier in the year when the engine & box were out. that made alot of difference.
Will let you know the difference with A.W.E. Drive Train Stabilizer bar.

Thanks Brett, I will be interested in what you think of it. Is your car also lowered?

Had the snub mount fitted last week when car was having timing belt, water pump etc replaced. I agree with Nige that it has made a noticeable improvement to the car and would recommend doing it if other work on the car means that it can be easily accesed.
