Movit pads - advice required

Hi all

Gonna need some new front pads in a few months and woudl like a bit of advice so that i am ready for when they are needed.

1. I guess there are various grades of pad available. If so, what is recomended for fast road use?

2. The car will go on the track maybe once or twice a year, is a different pad recomended and can this be used on the road without any loss in cold performance.

3. Where is the best place to buy from and how much should I expect to pay.

The top of the list for me is PAGID, you can either select the Orange ones or the blue (race and rally) ones. If it´s not the best, it´s one of them.

The other possibility is to use Ferrodo or Mintex, but the word on the street is that they are not even close.

I've now got the Ferodo DS2500 pads in my 993TT brakes on the S4 - they are much better than the 'Hawk' crap that was supplied as standard with my new brake kit. Much better bite and don't seem to need any 'Warming' up.

If fading is not a problem to you and you have a light feet, go with the orange ones.

I had Movits fitted to the front of my S4 recently. I discussed with Kim at QST about the possibility of putting in on the track in the future. His answer was use Hard Pads for the track and Soft for Road. It is not the difficult to change them if you are shown how to do it. Hard pads will give much better track performance, but will give inferior road performance when cold - and it is arguable whether they really get warmed up on the road.

My S4 still has the original weedy rear brakes. Kim said these would need upgrading to avoid brake fade on the track, even with Movit 342mm fronts. Cheapest option would be reconditioned RS4 rear brakes (500 squid or thereabouts I think), expensive option is Movit (see website for prices), but they are new. Steel hoses all round as well if you don't have these.

Thanks for the info guys, i will be changing the pads myself so a second set for the track is a good idea.

I have also thought about the RS4 rear brakes for the rear, just trying to find them.

The other option i am considering is new pads on the rear, maybe Greenstuff

Which track you considering? Snetterton up your way will give the brakes a good work out, especially end of the Revitt Straight.

Does the movit kit use the same calliper as the porsche big red ?

If so, the best ones I've had are porsche 993 TT standard pads. Quiet, good bite from cold and no track fade.
