...but I can't be sure if it is the pump crack problem or the bottle itself. Can anyone suggest how I find out without removing the wheel well cover. I just can't see the pump itself from the engine bay.

mine is currently being done under warranty - mine appears to be the main part that feeds the headlamp washer system.
you tried searching on Audiworld?

yes i had the same problem and it was the pump for the headlight witch is half way down or half way up

had gone rusty ? but you need small hands to do the job or broken fingers if you use a piece of string to see how far down it is if it's at the pump it could be that
and i found that taking out the inner arch is not worth it i found if it the headlight pump

In order to try and tell which part it is, fill up the washer bottle and watch where it leaks out. To state the obvious, it is leaking out from under the front airdam, it is probably not the washer bottle. I had the inside wheel cover off - it's a bit of pain - but this just confirmed the obvious, that it wasn't the bottle (plastic very really corrodes). Mine was the connection to the headlight washers and was fixed under warranty. The headlight washers work under a lot of water pressure, so it is not super unusual for the hoses to become detached.

Cheers. It is coming from the under the dam, on the driver's side. However I just assumed that the water was running along the inside of the dam (it's a very slow leak). Also surely if the pipe to the headlight washers is ruptured/off, the water would only leak when the washers are activated?

Mine was exactly the same - leaking from under the front air dam, on the driver's side. It was leaking out slowly - perhaps about an hour to empty the water bottle enough for the annoying windscreen washer light to illuminate on the dashboard. It leaked out regardless of whether the headlight washers were activitated. I guess this is part of the same system/pipework as the windscreen washers.
It's probably either a case of take the inner wing out and possibly the front airdam after that and do it yourself, or down your local independent Audi specialist, or Audi UK if it still has a warranty.

Cheers. Mine seems an even slower leak than that. Looks like I'll have to take the front off. Annoying as I can't afford the time for several weeks yet, but neither do I want the hassle/cost of taking it to a garage.
