I bought mine from germany the other week via Ebay - they're on the car already...
Vag Parts also do these but they are about £200 each IIRC

So...what you you think of them now? How easy were they to fit?

I removed mine and replaed them with folding mirrors, no worries. The hardest part was having the nerve to pull the glass out and push it back in without breaking it

Dippy, I think they are great on my car (dark blue), but might not be the same on your car colour.. 20 min job to fit (two external screws holding the housing on at the bottom, and three internal screws to hold the mirror adjuster on)
just mind you don't scrape the inside edge whilst juggling the housing over the adjuster mechanism!
in light of recent thefts, where is best to etch the vin/reg number on without it being 'TOO' visible.. inside edge next to the mirror glass?

I originally ordered the chrome mirrors for my car but the dealer messed up the order. The reason I wanted them was to avoid paint chips and because I thought they'd look good (I have chrome roof rails and they look good too). However I don't seem to have a stone-chip problem with my existing painted ones so I admit I'm in two minds as if to invest in the chrome ones.
I'm fairly dubious about the value of etching the glass. I just protect my car against casual criminals and accept that 'true' car thiefs will have the car if they want it. I just don't see them thinking "oh sh*t, the VIN is etched on the glass so I'll just steal something else!".

yes I'd like the chrome roof rails but I'm not prepared to pay nearly £500 for them...
Anyone know where I can get some cheap(er) chrome roof rails for a B5 S4? if so then please PM me...
The point about etching the vin is that if this is done on the actual Mirror Housing, then hopefully this will deter some little scrote from tugging them off! Question is where is best so that A - they see the vin and B - it doesn't mess things us Aesthetically (sp).

Ah, must be Stoptech then !
There appears to be two types of mirrors on the go, 'chrome' plastic and the 'real aluminium' versions. Apparently VAGParts can supply just the housings for about £110 inc a pair but are not listed in their shop. Even the dealers are quoting me 130 incl but I suspect these are chromed plastic ????

Chris, nope they are the 993TT's.
I've spoken with VagParts last week about the mirror situation and they are quite certain that they do not supply just the metal housings for that price - Martyn stated you are looking at paying £200 each....
