How is this wish list?
How is this wish list?
seems pretty good but since you guys know more about this than me, please tell me if everything here checks out ok:
already have AmD Stage 3 (RS4 Turbo, RS4 Intake, RS4 MAF, RS4 Injector components, Y pipe)
want:
RS4 Oil Cooler
RS4 clutch
Milltek Sport Stainless Steel DUAL Exhaust
Porsche 996 GT3 Brakes (front/rear)
also, what do you think the 1/4 mile, 0-60, and hp figures will be?
appreciate it

Why have the RS4 clutch? Ask AmD they can do an uprated one that is still useable
As for the RS4 oil cooler, how much will you give me for a dsecondhand one, I may be uprating mine
Apart from that , all looks good
As for 0-60, very hard to get a good estimate as it is down to driver, I guess you should be looking at around 420bhp
Good luck with it

Re: How is this wish list?
Interesting you want the 996 GT3 brakes. You realise the fronts are the huge 6 pots? I fitted these to my S4 - you need to watch for wheel clearance. I also did the rears which is one huge conversion! Check the gallery for pics and let me know if you want any help with the brakes.SpiKe wrote:seems pretty good but since you guys know more about this than me, please tell me if everything here checks out ok:

Bushy, thanks for the offer. im just thinking about those mods and dunno for sure which ones, if any, i'll be getting. AmD promised 430hp+ with stage 3, so with some more tuning it should be 450+ im guessing. also, why do you think RS4 clutch is a bad idea?
Grichell, what sort of "huge conversion" are we talking about here? also, can you really notice the diff over stock?
thanks for the input guys

Dont think it is a bad idea as quite a few owners have had it done.
Just that the S4 and RS4 are similar cars and I have found the RS4 clutch is not that strong, at least not for the RS4 so if us RS4 owners are upgrading, why not have that one?
Scott has offered me an uprated clutch which doesnt loose the control unlike some of the harsher "paddle" clutches. Something like 35% more grip/friction with 25% more area, although I am doing this from memory so it could be rubbish
Due to pick it up end of the week or early next so will let you know how it feels
Cant wait to be honest

Re: RS4 clutch. Am I incorrect in thinking that the S4 and RS4 clutches are identical apart from the setting of the diaphragm or something? In other words, it's the same unit, just using different settings so that it bites harder and quicker. RS4 clutches are notoriously weak, and if you're looking at around 420hp, that's more than a standard RS4, so buy the upgraded version I say!

If you can drive it, I can crash it
If you do a search on the rs4 clutch on Audiworld (THE best forum for information) then you will
see that they are indeed very similiar. You can get a good clutch from the states for about $800
at the moment which is not bad considering the exchange rate.
Also, there a posts buy a guy called Don Istook who builds S4 race engines
- he reckons that it's not worth putting the RS4 intake manifold onto the
S4 head because of the port mismatch. Improvements when doing this are
more likely from the rs4 fuel system and larger maf. What do people
who actually have the full conversion think to that?

I reckon:
RS4 Oil Cooler - good move, S4's are marginal on oil temps at best even with un-modified engines.
RS4 clutch - yes, www.vagparts.com do them.
Milltek Sport Stainless Steel DUAL Exhaust - do you have their cats ? and how much does the dual offer over the standard catback ?
Porsche 996 GT3 Brakes (front/rear) - expensive choice, plus the GT3 rears are overkill for an S4 because its a front engined car. A GT3 has a good braking balance front to rear because its rear engined (55/45 at a guess) but the S4 is around 80/20 so there is no need for such big rear brakes.
