K04 Upggrade - how much power to expect??

Hi All

Had my car upgraded with K04's and a remap recently (no RS4 fuel system), however I am not satisfied with the performance and a Dyno run showed the car is producing just under 300BHP which is definitely too little in my opinion - and the tuner agrees although they said "its not far off..."....so the car is back in the shop where they have been trying different things since Monday morning, so far without luck. What sort of power should I expect in terms of torque and BHP as a minimum with the standard upgrade?

well with a RS4 stage meaning:
turbos
fuel sys
y pipe
flex hose
maf senso
airbox
intercoolers
full exhaust
a hell of a good clutch
and the right tuner
an average of 340 to 370 WHP and lbs of tq around 400+ meaning i dont know for sure

Is that wheel HP or Flywheel HP ?
If its at the wheel then not too far off.
Was the K04 conversion done by QST as I see you
have an MTM remap ?

I am currently having the same problem that you. I had my car done the basic K04 upgrade. I was expecting 350 HPs at the crank, but I am getting 275. Have you done your ECU again, I mean after stage 1?
With the G-tech:
Stage 1 was doing 5.223 from 0-60 and 13.745
But, with the basic stage 3 ( Dif. turbos, dif. cats, dif exaulst, dif. DNS)
My car is doing 5.433 from 0-60 and 13.644. So it´s not as fast as it was before even after spending loads of $$$. How can it be? Maybe the G-tech is a little wrong, but not that much...
What is the time that should be expected? I though about 4.9 to get to 60 and 13.00 s for the 1/4 mile.

So I guess my mechanic ain´t getting his money, till the car shows some improvement...

Not sure if it is at the flywheel, I didnt even get to see the print before he said it was under powered (they did 3 dyno runs). Yup QST...and they are still trying to sort it. They think it is still a problem and they have tried changing several parts, MAF and other bits without luck [img]images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img] I am told next step is to involve MTM so we will see....early next week I understand. is this car running standard intercoolers?

Yes, K04 Turbos, MTM remap, and RS4 Clutch. Standard Intercoolers.

I believe that to get the most from the KO4's you'd need the Milltek Downpipes and a remap. My standard KO4 conversion (turbos/ Downpipes/ remap but not RS4 air or fueling mods)yielded 395bhp and 420Lb ft - at the flywheel.

If its QST and they haven't sorted it yet then it must be something unusual that's wrong.

Yes it seems to be an unusual problem. Did you have Stainless Steel CAT's & Link Pipe as well as the Milltek Catback system?

Which remap do you have? The tuner still cant find the problem on mine. They think its to do with boost not keeping high enough, but cant find the cause. I now have to wait until April until MTM can take a look themselves. [img]images/graemlins/033102bad_1_prv.gif[/img]

Mine is from Oettinger. My car is still "slow" because I am running Stage 1 mapping. So, in the next two weeks, I will have a new Chip. Pretty expensive though...

Finally got the car sorted in late May. Had to take it to AmD as QST couldnt find the problem even though they had the car in for weeks on end, it was getting ridiculous in the end. In addition they kept promising me a custom remap by MTM which never happened..as they claimed they needed MTM to diagnose the fault with their superior experience...very poor service indeed.
But then I had already paid the large bill for K04 upgrade etc., so I expect they didnt want to touch it unless I had decided to spend even more money.

Finally made the decision to get a second opinion and AmD took a couple of hours to diagnose an airleak and fixed it. Got them to do a proper remap as well rather than the standard MTM programme and the car is now producing what its supposed to.
I know where I am shopping from now on....

sorry to hear about your bad experiences at QST Mik. I remember seeing your car there when Kim was listening to my 'whining' turbos in March. Kim has just done a similar upgrade on another S4 this week which produced 405bhp.

For reference, do you know where the airleak was found on your car?
