Who's here then ?

Post by DavidT » Fri Jan 16, 2004 5:39 pm

We seem to be getting more S4 members at a pretty rapid rate, which is nice.

Let's do a role call. Please post your details, especially if you have not already registered or posted on the site, its an ideal way to introduce yourself.

Me: 2000 Silver saloon, 52k mile, love it, don't plan to sell it any time soon. Done some mods to make it a little more track friendly, planning some more.

OK Boss.

It's a personal import (I may have the only one here).
Done just over 35K miles.
I'm keeping it for the foreseeable future too.
No more mods until the turbos die...
2001 Silver S4 Avant
AmD remap, APR R1 DVs, APR bipipe, Full Miltek exhaust
H&R coilovers, AWE DTS, Porsche front brakes, Short-shifter, 18" RS4 replicas
Defi-HUD boost gauge / turbo-timer (with afterrun pump modification), Phatbox

Cool!
Me: 1999 Noggy saloon, 39K miles, AMD 326bhp reprog then had Milltek cat back, Forge DV's, full H&R suspension, Tanoga S/S, NEW MAF & running really well as daily driver. No plans to change unless I can afford a soon-to-be-announced RS4 SALOON in noggy blue!
All work done at 1 year old/3,000 miles. Thoroughly reliable and I love it.
Hoping to fit APR snub mount in the near future (hint, hint Nige!)

OK

Got mine yesterday:

2000W Volcanic Black
S4 Saloon
92K miles

After lusting for over a year. No mods and none
planned (just sold a modded car).

I am well pleased with it (despite some problems - see other
posts). Dealer is being really helpful (so you guessed it
wasn't an Audi dealer).

Really like the interior, the build quality and the sound
is gorgeous. Bit dissapointed with the performance,
seems a bit gutless, especially in 3rd gear. So much so
that I think I will get it dynoed just to see if anything
is wrong. My previous car was a Golf 1.8T which was
chipped to 200bhp with 240ft/lbs and was quicker than the
S4 in my opinion. Wouldn't go back though....

Cheers,

OkeyDokey...been lurking/posting for a while...

1998 Quartz Grey - 64k miles. Standard.

Am at that crossroads where I'm undecided what to do...Mod it (i think it's desperately in need of suspension, but haven't driven another S4 to compare to), or change for an RS4.

Been the most reliable car I've had...no problems and no rattles even now.

Sounds good

I've had my car for around 3 months, and am still loving it. Details as follows:

2000W Silver S4 sedan (manual), 39k miles, black leather interior with heated electric Recaros , CD changer, carbon fibre, centre arm rests, ski bag.

The car is stock (but it's got an OEM boot lid spoiler) with an Audi extended warranty.

No mods planned, though I'm considering a shortshifter.

Alex.

Noggy Blue 1999 S4, about 75k, had it for 2 years now, it was unmodified when I got it. Since then went for shortshifter, DV's, H&R Coilover and an APR Chip. Then one of the turbos went :-( so I wondered if I should sell it and get an RS4 or keep it and go for the full KO4 upgrade since I could not see the point in spending a few k to get it back to the same spec as before!

Anyway, I just could not bring myself to buy an estate! I KNOW! but I love the shape of my saloon, and don't get ,e wrong I like the RS4 but just could not see myself in it every day!

So, the car made its way over to Germany and had the SKN treatment with injectors, modified KO4's, milteck exhaust, hi flow cat, downpipes, manual boost controller ... I got back a new car

So, my plan is to keep this car for ever and ever and ever and ever!! Will be paid off next year and no way will I get my money back so plan to maybe get a second car next year for normal travel and garage the S4

oh, not long till the NW meet on Monday then

Yes, I plan to be there, first one too for me to

Terrible, had the car for nearly two years but never looked at these chat rooms before ... even although I used to run an BBS in the old days before the internet was 'here' !

Mate, you had better not look at my car, more than I expected, and did hurt my wallet

99 Noggy saloon 65K miles. Standard.

Had it 18 months and really like it.

JohhnyX your Golf really should't feel quicker. Get yourself down to AMD for a check-up.

Quick check is to measure your 50-70 roll-on in 6th. Should be 6 to 6.5s for a stock car.

Mine has been feeling a bit sluggish. Local Audi dealer no use. AMD diagnoised a faulty MAF sensor today, I now have the pain of getting a new one under warranty.

David

Will get it checked out - 3rd gear seems like a non-event.
I am already going to get AMD to give it a good service
and lookover - will get them to dyno it as well.

I wouldn't go around underestimating chipped golfs though.
Something that is 300kg lighter than an S4 with 2wd,
200 bhp and 240ft/lbs of torque is a quick car. It would
do 80 - 100 in 4s in 4th which I thought was pretty good.

Doesn't feel or sound the same as the S4 though (which is
the real reason why I bought one)

Cheers,

strange that u mention poor third gear performance. if u check out the following article, i'm pretty sure it mentions the third gear performance as being one of the strong points of the S4. don't forget that the S4 seems to have quite long ratios, and although the performance isn't neck breaking in third it will pull from 2000rpm all the way upto knocking on 100mph - very flexible.

http://www.biturbo.co.uk/images/Car_199712_01.pdf

My S4 is a standard Nogaro with satnav/tv, Silver leather electric heated Recaros, Bose, carbon trim, centre arm rest blah blah blah. Great car, but worried about reliability issues judging by half the posts on this site!
