1st order of the day

Post by adapssis » Sun Jan 04, 2004 1:57 am

I've just bought a 00 s4 with 75000km, being 4 years old, I was talked into a timing and v belt change which reduced by budget to a one upgrade limit, should I go the chip or the exhaust and air filter and which brand. I live in Sydney and it all costs twice as much here, apparently the parts have to be swam across the ocean.

Welcome mate.

there has been loads of debate on this subject - suggest you perform a search to see what the consensus was then.

However from my own personal experience I would recommend the following in this order:

Give the car a full air pressure test for leaks and check the MAF
Then.........
Shortshifter
Brakes - Porsche or Movit's
Suspension H & R

Then no engine mods until you have saved up enough to have them all done at once, in which case:

K04's
Dowpipes and exhaust
RS4 Airbox and MAF
RS4 Injectors.

If that's beyond your budget then a chip if you must but try and decide now about any future mods further down the line - this will save money in the long run.

Enjoy the S4 experience - make sure the car is warmed up before gunning it and cooled down after every run.

Yeah, if I knew then what I know now I may have said that modding is for suckers although I did enjoy it immensely at the time. Not sure my bank manager did though

Adaptis, did you buy the Blue one in Artarmon??

I live in Sydney also, and own a Imola 03 S3

Congrats on your purchase and enjoy the ride, if you wanna chip the car, give Derek Smith a call @ Harding European in Mona Vale and say Kris sent you, he is the Sydney APR dealer and will turn your S4 into a animal
Audi S3
