19" Wheel Problems

Anybody had problems fitting 19" wheels onto the S4? I am on my third set (RS6 replicas) but the biggest tyre size I could get on the rear is 235. I started off with 245's but they rubbed the suspension arm on the inside even with 5mm spacers - and then they fouled the arch. 235's seem OK on the rear but I have fouling on the front with the plastic inner wheel arch on full lock. I also had to space the fonts to clear my Brembo 6 pots so now they foul the arch on major compression loads. I may go back to 18's!

I think it depends more on the width of the wheel, rather that it's diameter because bigger wheels use lower profile tyres to keep the rolling radius similar.

What width are they ? 8, 8.5 or 9 inch.

From what I have read, 8 is about the most you can reasonably go on an S4.

Remember that you should also fit the same wheels and tyres all round on a four wheel drive car.

They are only 8" wide. I had BBS 8 1/2" x 18" on for a while with no problems. They were the same offset as my new ones - ET35. Definitely appears to be diameter related (and tyre size). Anybody tried to clearance the front arches before?

My car is lowered too, although nothing silly. My main problem is I had to space the fronts out 5mm to clear the 6 pot Brembo's. I reckon I can remove the lip on the front arches and it should be OK.

I also had a problem with the Sportecs rubbing on the outer arch and I believe it was to do witht he Movit hubs which forced the rims out by 5mm, now that I have changed the brakes and have 9.5" wide MTM rims I have no problem

Wheel quality and finish is fine. They look great on the S4 Avant. I think most of my problems are from putting on 235 tyres. If I stuck with 225's, I probably would not have the rubbing.

Then why you had had to buy new set?
Have you tried wheels spacers?
H&R makes good ones.

I had to use spacers to clear the big brake callipers but that took the wheel out enough for the tyre to rub the wheek arch on the outside.

Well

Than I can see some options:
Change the brakes
Roll your fenders
Change your tires and wheels configurations
.
All of them include spending some money.
