Changing side-light bulb

Hi,

Just noticed yesterday that my left hand side light bulb appears to be blown . Everything else is working fine - full beams, xenons, indicators. How difficult is it to change the bulb? Or would I be better booking it in to my local friendly Audi dealer?

If I tackle it myself, can you just buy a bulb out of Halfords? And how do you get in to change it?

Also, what's this likely to cost?

In the meantime, I'll just be driving with my headlights (xenons) on all the time!

If it is a pre-facelift car (with the separate side light unit) then it is simple to slide out by turning the white plastic phillips screw at the back of the unit and pressing down as the unit is slid out.

Lift up the lugs holding the bulb holder in place and remove it to reveal the bulb.

If it is post facelift I'm not sure how to change this but at worst just drop it into your local Audi dealer and they should be able to repace it for a few bob.

The post face-lift is relatively straight-forward (5 mins for me without looking at the manual). It's a bit fiddly for the driver side, as you need to remove the air intake hose to get your fingers in there - even then it's still tight! You need to rotate the appropriate plug at the back of the headlight unit by 90deg.

Nige.

Thanks guys.

My car is a facelft model (2000 V).

Can you get the bulbs from a local Halfords or will I have to go to the Audi dealer? Halfords is much nearer for me.
