feck that doesn't look too good - I take it you are OK?

I had a collison in my old S3 involving that part of the car but not as bad as yours...

Well i came off of a round about on to a road which has a landfill site on it. With all the rain and everything, the lorries where leaving a thick layer of mud on the road and my car went stright instead of left. I hit another car head on and i could not believe it. I tried to apply the power to try and get me out of it but the bloody esp stopped me from applying the power that i needed. (i have started to hate esp ).
Next thing i knew airbags were all over the place and the car was filled with smoke. I did really feel sorry for the other bloke because he did seem like a really nice guy and i had just smashed stright in to him. The insuance company is trying to claim off of the land fill site because they shoud have road sweepers out but after the accident one coensidently pulled out of the land fill site and decided to try and sweep up an intercooler and part of alloy.

it is classed as my fault but i have never been caught off guard like that on the roads before. i still cant see how it happend

Jeez......... the amount of damage at 40mph is unbelievable.
Glad to hear you're ok though.
What was the other car and how fast do you think he was going?

i dont know how fast he was driving but he was approaching a rounabout. Im astonished at the amount of damage and why the accident happened. My alloy wheel was shattered but the front of it was still attached to the hub. (see attachment)

all i can say is GUTTED

Commiserations mate, but glad to hear no-one was seriously injured (the main thing).
WTF did you hit? It couldn't have been French or Italian otherwise your car would have just plowed through it.

All the best,

Ben

My heart goes out to you I hope you get sensible money out of the insurance company.

The damage seems consistent with the speed you were travelling, especially if you add the other cars speed of impact (10 - 20 mph ?).

Best of luck with finding a replacement - will you go for another S4 ?

Damn, that's nasty allright. Glad to hear you're ok though

On the plus side, the car did it's job right (during the crash) and kept you safe.

I drive to work via extensive roadworks at the moment including a major roundabout (complete with mud), so I'll be keeping a careful watch now.

Has the crash made you question owning an S car?

Alex.

Another thing to look out for is gravel or salt laid in the early hours (4-5am) on roundabouts on cold days.
Not sure if it was there intentionally but there was frost forming so they may have put it down cos of that. Anyway hit a patch of it at speed and almost lost it, back end went. luckily cos it was so late there were no other cars on the road otherwise i'd have uploaded a picture similar to yours.

Still havent got to grips with the ESP. I leave it on as this is the first 4WD car i have driven and i only recently got the car.
So what are you meant to do when your back end goes with the ESP on, do you just continue to steer in the direction you want to go in and let the ESP sort it out, let off the accelerator, step on it, counter steer or what?

PS good to hear everyone is still in 1 piece.
