spooky... window 1/2 way down

Post by fade2grey » Tue Nov 04, 2003 8:21 pm

I'm sure I've seen something about this before.. but I've just dashed out of the house because my car alarm was going off.. no signs of anything untoward except... the passanger side window was 1/2 way down - it sure wasn't when I left.. any ideas what would cause that then? Oh no! The TT bug has spread!

I have my own theory on this one (on the TT that is!). I Think it is something to do with the wiring loom between the door and chassis. There is a strange connector block just there and i think they are a bit dodgy and are activating the finger trap feature!

On the TT I had last I got out of the car at a petrol station to fill the water and left the engine running. When I went to get back in the car it had locked itself ( still running). I had to sit there for 4 hours until the missus finished work and switched her phone on to bring the spare keys. Really lucky I was not that far away. Took it to Audi and they could find nothing wrong. I eventually traced it back to the connector block, replaced that and also got rid of the window thingy (drivers side)!

Doens't quite sound the same as the TT though this one, The TT never used to set the alarm off. Many owners have woken in the morning to find it open and has been pi**ing it down over night

You know I have come back to my car a couple of times now and the passenger window has been open, I put it down to the sausage like fingers of the passenger when he was getting out, but on reading this I will have to keep an eye out for this !

not looking forward to sleepless nights thinking some toe-rag could have away with my pride & joy

I did have a wierd problem with my bluetooth car kit though so that may have had something to do with it, it hasn't done it since (yet) though.

Ah ha, my old audi a4 used to do this, it was found by my local audi dealership that a sensor was being interupted by a well of water (rain), which would cause the windows to open by themselves when the car was locked? They sorted it out, dont know how, I was just please they had sorted it. I guess you could give them a call, its the Drift Bridge Garage dealership in Epsom.
