Had a run up the 1/4 mile at santa pod the other day. Got a 14.5 - which i know isn't great, but i got an average start. Second run start time was a lot quicker but after getting to second gear i was having trouble with the clutch - i think i fried it, it certainly smelled like it. The most embarassing thing was that Mr Calibra driver came roaring past me thinking i was still trying! The clutches/gearboxes on these s4's are a real dissapointment. But i guess you already know that.

Put an RS4 clutch in the car and a short shifter, should solve the problem.

Unless you're ruuning Stage 2 or above, you should be OK with the std clutch. Just make sure you don't EVER slip it, get off it quickly and you should be OK. Short-shifter will improve things, but 2nd to 3rd still doesn't like being rushed on my car.
RS4 clutch is a good upgrade if your std one is fecked.

Here's some
S4 1/4 mile times , including the the ex-Keyser machine that's currently showing our friends in the US how it's done.
Have we got any timeslips from our RS4 cars ?
Nige.

I did 14.0 / 97mph with my standard car at santa pod without making an 'agressive' start.
You have to remember that four wheel drive cars are much harder on the transmission because they have so much more grip when accelerating that anything two wheel drive.

When it says modified - it means replaced.

Seems a lot more expensive than AMD. I think their Top Tune with KO4 upgrades in about £5k?!?!

No mate - I think if you look at the AmD website a bit more closely you'll find that the cost of the full S4 engine conversion including air and fuel mods if £6750 plus VAT. Not sure the Mototune prices include VAT or not although I am assuming they don't.

Note that the FULL AmD solution is more aggressive (in terms of performance) than the Scotts one, and that accounts for the cost difference.

I am assuming that Scotts do not mean fitting RS4 MAF and airbox when they state "Fuel and Air Flow adjustments" although I note that the injectors are changed.
I am also assuming the AMD would fit the full Milltek although that is not stated as part of the modifications.

The scotts mod is essentialy the same as the AMD & Kim Collins. We have come to a price negotiation based on part exchanging my current turbo's (as my car is low mileage).
I could chase my tail for months trying to save a few quid here & a few quid there, but i have the dosh & i have the desire. The results i will see on the 8th Nov.
Keep you posted.
