Hi guys,
my first post to this forum.

I was thinking of changing the gearstick to a shorter one.
Does it make a big difference and does it affect your insurance?

Hi s4sh, meant to sound like S-Force

The shortshifter is definately a great mod and really transforms the gearchange.

Shouldn't affect your insurance but worth declaring any modification just to be on the safe side.

Enjoy the site.

For me a short-shifter was a 'must-have'. Unfortunately I delayed having it fitted until I also had other mods done, and I regret that. I would have benefitted having it from day 1. For me the stock throw is just toooooo long!

Regarding insurance that depends on your insurance company. Mine didn't care, but then there were bigger items for them to care about. The other issue is if you declare it. In theory non-declaral is a risk, but in practice I feel an insurer would have a hard time attributing any accident to a short-shifter. The chances of an insurance inspector finding a short-shifter must be very low.

If you are considering more mods in the future then your first step has to be to change to a 'mod-fiendly' insurer. That will be one who will charge you for anything that affects performance (or it is an expensive part), but not for anything else.
