I guess you are driving it reasonably hard?! It'd be rude not to I guess

I travel 35 miles to my place of work and if I drive steadily I get around 25mpg or 300 miles per tank

With round town driving this drops to more like 20mpg or about 250 miles per tank.

The worst I've seen is 150 miles per tank (track day)

It can vary a lot depending on how you drive it.

I Europe (foot to the floor) you can get about 150 miles per tank.

On UK motorways at steady 80mph i get just over 400 miles per tank

I'm doing well if I get more than 300. Usually 260 or so.

Simon. 400 miles! Respect

Maybe from the caning you gave it it has not adjusted properly, have you tried resetting the DIS

In my S4 250 to the tank was average, 150 was fun 350 was max, and boring
Can't beat a bit of boost!

Driver Information System.

The LED thing in the middle of the dash, you reset the mpg figure by holding down the button on the windscreenwiper stalk.

18.1 mpg is poor, I get the same as the other folks, 28 or a run and 22 in town, then 10 on the track.

If I drive along a level road at 60 mph with the a/c off, I get 45mpg on the DIS instant readout (I know this because I am sad). What do you get ?

I reset the DIS every time i fill up and i still get around the 18 mark.

when doing about 60 with the ac off i get around 30 - 35 mpg but the average mpg is always around the 18 mark

It may have a fault then.

Perhaps get your dealer to do an evaluation on it, they are free and it would probably just be plugging it in to their diagnostics software.

Good luck.

Bazza,

What fuel are you using? You will get higher mpg with a higher octane.

IMO if you are not thrashing your car ALL the time then 18mpg is low enough to suggest a fault.

My average is 24-25mpg which is a variety of all types of driving style (i.e. my daily drive is a mixture of 30mph town driving, open roads at 60-80, overtaking etc.)

Bazza, when I first picked my car up I reset the DIS and I averaged 17.9mpg which didn't sound right to me - two BPV's and a MAF later and I'm getting 22mpg on optimax + millers - no cruising around for me
