Hello everyone,

Never posted in this forum so please forgive my potential bluntness.

In a french forum I'm attending to, an S4 owner struggles with the following : his S4 from 1999 can't go over 220 km/h (like 140mph), the engine is around 4500rpm in 6th gear but it feels like the ruptor was kicking in (engine is doing "burps" ?).

Does it ring a bell for you guys ?

Cheers,

Eric

Eric - what is a ruptor? possibly lost in the translation?
It obviously has a problem.
Can the owner go over 4500rpm in 4th/5th gears OK? I presume not

Oh yes. Don't worry about posting in here. We don't bite

The "rupteur" in french is when you enter the red zone and the engine stops "breathing" and bounces to the upper limit.

That's a rev limiter then.

Eric, will the car not rev past 4500 in any gear or just 6th ?
