Turbo failure poll

Post by SimonS4MTM » Fri Aug 08, 2003 4:04 pm

I thought it wouldl be interesting to see just how reliable (or not) the B5 turbos are. So i have started this poll

<FORM METHOD=POST ACTION="http://forums.rs246.com/forums/dopoll.php"><INPUT TYPE=HIDDEN NAME="pollname" VALUE="1060355042SimonS4313bhp">
<p>Have your turbos failed
<input type="radio" name="option" value="1" />Yes
<input type="radio" name="option" value="2" />No
<INPUT TYPE=Submit NAME=Submit VALUE="Submit vote" class="buttons"></form>

See the other post to say how many miles you have done

I have voted no, because they had not failed when I had them changed.

I note that I am the only voter so far - c'mon gurs, I know of at east another two (yes paul, you're in that poll of two too!). And if you count a further two sets of RS4 turbos on my car alone I'd conclude that that was pretty unreliable - whatever the cause!

Joshie

One of the reasons I moved from S4 to RS4 is that two friends who were running S4's at the same time as I, both had failures at 60,000 - 65,000 miles.

It does / did / will happen to stock turbos.

talking to a friend at the weekend with a Merc Clk, he told me Mercedes have asked to take his car in as they noticed the turbos were a little noisy at the last service.
They are going to change them for him, totally free of charge....

He admitted to me that he would have had no idea there was anything wrong with them, and they requested to take the car in, not him asking for it to be done.

What's the chances of Audi doing that !
