Buying an S4 2.7
Buying an S4 2.7
Hi all,
I might be in the market for an S4 2.7. The thought of twin turbos and 2.7 litres gets me going!
Could someone give me a brief insight into model changes throughout the cars life. I have read that early cars might have turbo/manifold problems. Any technical changes or styling changes would be appreciated.
Also any links that might help too.
Cheers

Thanks, your car looks v.nice, but its out of my price range i'm afraid. Out of interest is the carbon fibre real and is it a factory option?
Re: Buying an S4 2.7
£23,000 but can discuss.
sounds like it could be time to discuss paul

Don't get me started on the subtle differences between the pre and post facelifts .....
I noticed another one the other day, on the facelift the boot catch has a black plastic hinged cover over it, the pre facelift doesn't
See my earlier (interesting ) posts here on the subject differences

Re: Buying an S4 2.7
Good luck on looking for your S4, buying from a dealer you should get piece of mind as the car should come with a 1 year warranty. Plus there are a few S4's out there, Ive seen prices as low as 13k right up to 23k??? Shop around and find the right one, low milage and a late reg would be a good idea, as this will keep resale value higher. As for problems with earlier models, thay should have been corrected as these models were recalled, you can check with Audi if the car your looking at buying has had the work done. But Most of all Buy one ! They are superb, fast, smooth and great fun to drive.
Re: Buying an S4 2.7
I think it would save quite a bit of money to decide exactly what you want up front before buying, because mods cost a fortune. So brakes at £1700, Milltek and remap at £2000, H&R suspension at £1000 and then if you go for the full monte then thats another £5000 or so for 400 HP and then it doesn't stop there .
In my opinion the standard S4 is not really up to snuff and honestly call a performance car
Think my next S4/RS4 would have the mods built in - save a small fortune in the long run.

Re: Buying an S4 2.7
Over 7k in mod`s? why not just go for a RS4 to begin with...... 380bhp standard plus revo = 430bhp......

Re: Buying an S4 2.7
Get your calculator out Mr Hussain .
RS4 - £35K 40000 miles
S4 £18K 40,000 miles plus £7K for afforemantioned mods = £54K
Difference = £10K
Trouble is that a standard RS4 still costs £8K to fettle it (brakes, full Milltek and remap plus GMBH suspension plus shortshift).
Of course the RS4 is still the more desirable option IMHO
