Without taking a look under my car, can anyone tell me if the Milltek system with sport CAT's can be fitted without taking the engine out.
Does anyone also know the cost and potential power increase for a chipped car with these fitted.
Sorry, i am being lazy
Thanks

I asked Kim Collins about getting a Miltek system, and was amazed at the price difference between a cat-back, and the full system. When I asked why, he told me it was an engine out job. It seems so many 'simple' things on the S4 are engine out. I guess it would be good to stack up all these jobs and get them done at the same time (ie, cam belt, full exhaust, clutch, etc...) to save money on labour.

What's all this BLX??? Please tell me you're only joking about what Kim said. What with another post on AS-net and this, I'm beginning to wonder about Kim.
Fitting a full Miltek system does NOT require engine removal. The reason it costs so much is that it has two cats (which contain platinum) and cats are expensive, particularly performance ones.
Depending on your engine & remap, the full system will give you about 30-40 more bhp AND lbft.

No joke...
It wasn't Kim himself, but some new chap - Paul maybe.
IIRC, the full Milltek was £2725+vat including MTM chip which on its' own was £850. I can't remember the exact price of the cat-back, but it was around the £800 fitted.

From AmD it was around £400 for the cat-back, £1100 for the rest of the system, and they gave me a remap for free (only for special customers like me ).
Of course I had to pay for the original remap 6 months earlier, and that was about £1K.

As usual Mr. D is correct.
AS Jim at Star Performance explained to me. "I had to break my son's arm in three places to get the CATs on!"
There's an article on Audiworlds Tech section.
Yes, I have my suspicions about Kim. He's far from the cheapest around and I've told him as much on his customer responce form.

Tell me the name of an Audi tuner who's "cheap". They're all expensive.
Think if I had my time over agin I'd find a good Audi specialist (there must be one out there) to do the mechanical work and then get the remapping done later by AmD or QST

I know exactly what you mean. It's interesting that though Jim at Star Performance is approx £35/hr for work on an Audi. He is £25/hr for work on a VW? (I think) Same tools / facilities etc. The labour charges and poor dealer service are reasons I've resorted to getting my hands dirty again for the first time in years.
If for some reason I don't go for the wide one I'm giving serious consideration to tackling the K04 turbo change out my self along with anything else then, possibly taking the car to AMD for the remap. Hmm we shall see....
