S4 boost gauge

Post by Carps » Fri Jun 27, 2003 10:14 pm

A little while ago whilst searching around I cam across a boost gauge for the S4 the was built in to the rev-counter, and basically seemed to run off the existing wiring. Anyone know who the manufacturer was as I'll be damned if I can find it now. I seem to recall it being a US firm

TIA

I think you are referringg to the OCT one, you can see it on the Stratmosphere site here

Here are some other options

APR

Not backlit.

Why is the surround grey instead of black ?

You can have either with Vacuum (30in.Hg-25psi) or without Vacuum (0-30psi)

Here is what the OCT one looks like.

Looks a little flash to me and I wonder if it would be distracting. Anyone got one ?

Anyone interested in one of these then ?

I plan on the AWE centre vent gauge, seems the neatest and it's backlit.

They will fit RS4's as well I expect ?

AmD are going to install mine, they tell me they have done them before.

I will arrange a group buy if there is enough interest.

I like the look of the OCT one, but wonder how much it costs, and what this does to the validity of the clocks (i.e. speedo reading etc). Do you have a web link for it ?

I don't like the A pillar one, and the vent one looks okay, but I'd have to see one for real first, as it still looks a little out of place for my liking.

Cheers,
John.

John,

Just click on the links towards the top of the the thread for the detail you need.

I don't think there is an ideal solution unfortunately.

David thanks, some how I missed that link

I still prefer the look of the Oct dials, but it seems they don't do them for the RS4 at present, and it is twice the price of the vent mounted dial (okay, so I'm a cheapskate !)

IMO it has the advantage of being concealed in the current dials, and needs no vacuum boost connection as such (uses electrical signals passed to the ecu).

They both look pretty easy to install though.

I think I'll hold off and see if Oct will be doing a kit for the RS4, and if not, well, maybe then I'll go for the vent one after I've seen all yours fitted

Cheers,
John.

I am also interested in the centre vent boost gauge on a group buy. Seems like the best option for me as I have an analogue clock (98 S4), so I dont think the OCT one will fit (although it's clearly the solution which is engineered in the best way)

Cheers
