S4 Timeslips

Post by TurkS4 » Mon Apr 21, 2003 10:41 pm

Hey Guys...

Just pick this up on US S4 website...interesting reading just what you can do with an S4 if wanted too.

http://www.s4biturbo.com/timeslips.cgi

Interesting point, a stock S4 can post a time under 14 secs for 1/4 mile, while a chipped S4 (stage 1, I presume) can only do it in a few fractions of a second faster......is this all you can expect from a chip. Does not seem worth it considering the potential problems it could cause. I was expecting something much more...or am I missing soomething here???

Cheers....

One of the biggest difference with a chip is high-end power. A lot of the major differences you'll notice will be on the freeway, not on the drag strip, but still you'll notice it. If you're skeptical about chips find a chipped S4 and ask if you can test drive it, I think you'll be suprised by the difference the chip makes.

I agree, S4 or RS4, the performance gain is not in the off the mark times as you still need to get a big lump of metal moving which needs considerable energy force.

The main gain is driveability, so floor it in 3rd at 40mph and she flies compared to stock, this is what you want to happen, not change down to increase rpm to get the power you need

You need to come to a meet
Can't beat a bit of boost!

Gents,

I take your point about trying a modded S4. I notice there is a meet in Milton Keynes on the 30th, is there anyone going who has a modded S4 or is there someone who lives in/near Kent who I could meet up with to give it a go

Thanks

Hi Jeff,

Are you going to the MK meet? or would you be so kind to meet up with me so I may understand the ways of the chip.

If so, I can drive down to where you are(any excuse to drive the S)...whereabouts in Kent are you based?

Cheers....

Just caught up with this thread as I am just back from holiday.

I'll be at the meet. I have a highly modded S4 and I'd be happy to take you for a spin.

Just noticed that the meet isn't to be in MK this time. I'll probably be going though wherever it is but I noticed that it is a pain for you to get to.

Perhaps you'll be able to get along to a meet soon though.

Just won an ebay auction so I have a couple of improvements destined for the interior (not seats I hasten to add!!)

Oh, and Jeff, remember - it's impossible to have too many engine modifications

Yeah - I was 'happy' to take DJG for a spin in my car. It wasn't long before I was doing 120 mph down the dual-carriageway at Theale

Normally I will never go above about 95 mph 'cos I value my license too much.

I could never be an RS4 driver
