Stumped newbie- ABS fault

Iv been in loving possesion of my b5 s4 for nearly a year now and its coming up to MOT time. Shes had the abs light on and no function from pump since i bought it and with fault code 00287 (rear right ABS sensor open or short to plus). I have a VCDS so no problem scanning and clearing codes.
I started with a new sensor, no change. Then ran a wire from sensor to ABS module, still no change and today changed module for a good used item and still flagging up same fault.
Any ideas as to how i can still have the fault with all components in the system replaced? Can a fault like this be in the loop between ABS module and dash?
I really am stumped on this so any help would be very much appreciated. I cant let a noggy die
