You deffo have a case of failing MAF by the sounds of things... possibly a boost leak. Time to get it booked in for a health check. Woody only round the corner all too convenient!

same as hobson i drove a facelift ctr for 3 years before getting the rs4. its an absolutely fantastic car in terms of handling build quality and a great engine but unless the roads bone dry itll spin up in first and second without even booting it and is really in need of a limited slip diff like the integras got as standard. if honda had made a turbod 4wd version id have got one in a flash but they didnt hence the rs4. speed wise the in a straight line the rs4 will wipe the floor with the ctr 0-60 ,60-100 and 100+ its a world apart. what the honda lacks is the torque, theres bugger all there so you have to be up and down the box all the time. in the real world the rs4 couldnt leave the ctr on the back lane twisties but get on a straight itll disappear. sorry to be comparing against the rs4 but just thought id share my 2p :nogarors4:
