well .... the theory that there is a larger amount of material that can be removed from the ports of the 2.4 heads is very much so .. 5mm easily :D

standard ..

ported ..

ive left about 0.5mm tolerance to alow for the gasket to expand "not shown"

all good news as regards to making satans child breath without back preesre issues ..

all this cost was 50 ... 40 grit dremmel bits and about a week in the workshop after work ... the heads are now off to qep for some final finishing and flowing, 3 angle seats and valves. solid lifters and the cams ...

ill keep you posted ...

well here's the pics of the progress on the car over the last week...
the fourlink is now in and most of the floor now removed...

the floor will be compleatly removed and the full funny car cage built into the chassis rails, thus surounding me 360 degree's ...
the floor will then be replaced with sheet metal ....

more to follow ..

Nice job, did the same with my old E30 BM and used the Dremel as well. Inlet and exhaust manifold gaskets always seem to be a lot bigger than the ports. You'd think the manufacturers would match them in the casting process.

Anyone know if the cosworth RS4 heads have the same problem with gaskets being a lot bigger than the ports?

yes they are mate .... all audi v6 heads have the same size exhaust ports. but, be carefull if you port them yourself as there is not as much material to remove as there is on the 2.4 heads ...

good man for doing your own.....

So like a lot have said in the past.... the 2.4 head is the one to use. once yours is ported what are the comparisons/advantages/disadvantages of it compared to a standard RS4 head
