The problem is that you're too hung up on image. So what if the scooby's turning into a car favoured by chavs???? I'm just the right side of 40 and it really doesn't bother me that there's a baseball capped tw@t driving round in the same marque.

I agree that most Evo's can blow away a scoob but then the same can be said for most cars that have a lower spec than the Bugatti!! there's always something better, and you don't by a car for out and out performace alone.

Beliee me, I under no illusions about what will happen at Bruntingthorpe but it'll be fun finding out

Jonesy,
Astonished when i first drove an early scoob I personally like the early ones a terzo would be my ideal a friend has a 22B amongst other things (he's loaded) time will pass and the Chavsters will move on and the scoobie will again be a proper cult car.

Can't find the old bit of video on my computer..... but for anyone interested there is this video on Streetfire of a B6 (NOT a B5) S4 doing bits against an E46 M3. I know the B6 has totally different engine (4.2 V8 n/a instead of 2.7 bi-turbo V6), but they have very similar torque and very similar 0-60 times.... as DavidT predicted, it looks like the M3 pulls away (once its got its tyres warmed up, its awful before that) shortly after the transition into 3rd gear:

The video also has some stuff on the freeway at 250km/h..... where the B6 seems to pretty much hold its own.

yeah i've seen that one - think the S4 is totally standard. Stage 1 decatted S4 B5 should be an equal......i think....i've decided on an S4 now anyway......for more reasons than just outright straight line performance.
