Hi All,

Another newbie, had mine a couple of months:

1998 pre-facelift saloon, 79K miles, Volcano Black Pearl, Black heated leather, Armrest, Sunroof, Skibag, well-scuffed
OZ Super Tourismo Alloys, Rear mudflaps, Chrome mirrors.

Additions? Recon gearbox, new clutch & some mats, put 3K miles on and now the rear diff is getting noisier.

I want to replace the OZ alloys with either 17" originals or 18" B6 alloys and
get all the stonechips sorted then I'll post a piccy of my pride of joy.

I absolutely love it :D even tho' but the airbag light has just come on. :boohoo:

Anyone know a trustworthy specialist near Portsmouth?

Cheers,
Mark

Thought I'd introduce myself on this thread. I'm also a newbie, looking to buy a FL avant in a few months. Been browsing the forum archive lately and found some excellent info.

Fell in love with these cars nearly 2 years ago when I first drove my mate's '98 avant in snow. Only now I realized that I could actually afford this dream, since the prices have come down remarkably. Most of these cars here in Finland are imports, since there were not many sold here when new. I'm also looking to buy one from Germany and import it myself, since that way I could save up to 5-7k euros. (More cash for the coming mods)

Coming from a VW TDI with constant 60 mpg and ~25k miles annually, the fuel consumption will be quite a shock, but especially in the wintertime the fun of having a ~300 bhp quattro more than pays up for it... :biggrin3:

Cheers,
Heikki

Very good turnout I think. Thanks all for posting.

A warm rs246 welcome to 35col, scotty306, snowy-d & Heksa.

I reckon we have posts from 43 owners which is excellent. Anyone else want to introduce themselves? we don't bite.

It seems that modifications are at the top of the average B5 S4 owners priorities, or is that just for enthusiasts who post on forums and not the representative majority?

I specifically bought the S4 with the intention of not modifying it...after I'd gone a bit mental on my ibiza (revo, fmic, milltek, kw v2 coilovers, brembos, dynatwist etc). less than 6 months into ownership..and I've fitted:
revo, milltek full system, h&r coilovers, porsche 993 brakes, panel filter...and ordered AWE intercoolers...woops :D

Hi all.

Bought my 2000, Imola Avant 18 months ago from Fontains. Now has 72K on the clock. Purchased standard with leather interior.

Now has RS4 Rep's, H&R Coilovers, ARB's, Poly bushes.

Next stop, brakes, following which I can feel a discussion coming on with MRC.

Loving it to bits.

Looking at all the posts, it would seem these cars can achieve major mileage. Just make sure the oil on some filters are changed every 5K. I think I've got this car for life. :D

Even my kids call her my girlfriend.

Regards to all.

Evening all,

First post and all that - shamed into submission after 16 months of lurking
Cracking website :jump_clap: with lots of useful information and advice for ex-newbie's like me & those just not satisified with a mere 265 ponies
Anyway, finished the confessional and back to the thread:

Facelift 2000 S4 Avus Silver 50k, standard spec with full Recaro leather front/back, non-Bose, carbon fibre trim. Bought from stealer 12 months ago (FASH). Now looked after by Kim at QST :D. Will keep as standard

Brilliant car  - all the toys for the commute :sleeping_2: but ready for the weekend: 3rd gear + Sunday + Peak District = :D :D :D . 25 mpg on Optimax :)

Only one problem :(: the infamous heatshield death rattle (post-facelift!). Well at least it's not the manifold ...

May be mixing the threads but aged 34 - Elephant for insurance :)

PS Mate drove mine recently: wants to know how I've kept the licence for last 12 months. Perhaps we should have another roll call for speeding convictions / court appearances / police cars visited ... Sounds like a confessional again ...

Hi all,

One more for the list, Silver 2000 Facelift S4 Saloon, sunroof, parking sensors, Movit 993TT fronts, Miltek catback, 18" B6 Alloys, Re-map, 710N DVs, 55k miles, had it a month and brings a big fat grin to my face every timeI get behind the wheel!

Just spent a small fortune having service / cambelt water pump etc / disks skimmed / new pads / respray of the stone chips, alloy mirrors, rear diff seals, cv gaiters, track rod ends, etc etc...

All sorted now and goes like a dream, just thinking about H&R coilovers to get rid of the "Allroad look" !

(Oh and I had a TDI Quattro for 4 yrs before this so I know all about A4s and TDIs and even used this forum!)

Top forum, keep it up chaps.

Hi again all,

Went to Germany last week and got me a nice souvenir:

Image Image Image

It's a 2001 (EZ. 12/00), 130k km, with black recaro, carbon trim, small navi and Porsche big reds with 322x32 discs. Engine is stock, but I'm thinking of getting a MRC remap some day. It's now in service, getting cambelt, waterpump and oils changed, motor heater (for those cold winter mornings) and cruise installed, going to pick it up in a few hours...

And another!

1999 Nogaro with silver nappa saloon owned since 6 months old and 800 miles now at 55K, FASH used daily with AMD K04's Forge DV's, Tanoga, Samco hoses, H&R, full Milltek, B6 S4 18" alloys, RS4 calipers and Quattro gmbh drilled discs, yellow pagids, AWE DTS, RS4 engine mounts, lower temp turbo after run switch, RS4 ARB's plus probably a few other bits along the way.

A hobby that has turned into a bit of an obsession!

Definitely not selling...ever!

Rgds

I've had mine for about 6 months now, bought from another forum member, car is in great condition at the moment, despite having done 121k miles now. Still running sweet, and AFAIK still on original turbos!

It's silver with black Recaros. Upgrades as per sig. below, plus it's got the Bose upgrade, and a few other toys. :D

I've previously had BMW M3's and Mercedes AMG's, but so far the S4 has been the most enjoyable to drive, I've always liked turbo cars for the mid-range power and the way you haven't got to thrash them to get the best from them, and the quattro traction is fantastic!

I've also got a 330i sport on a 53 plate with all the toys which I'm desperate to sell, then I think I may move on to an RS4. (If anyone's interested, let me know!)

However, I have just been banned from driving for 28 days (speeding, not in the S4), so will have to see what the insurance implications are going to be!!

Nige, are your parking sensors OEM? If not where did you get them? I'd quite like a set!

Cheers,
Alex.
