Hi guys,

I'm in the process of trying to get cruise control retro-fitted to my newly-acquired S4 saloon (pictures and proudness report to follow when weather is good enough to take a nice picture..... suffice to say i love it :D ). It is a pre-facelift 99T-registered (but late 98 car).

Only problem hit so far is which stalk to buy to retrofit cruise. I think it is NOT 8L0 953 513 J from VAGparts..... who have very kindly offered loads of help and advice  . They think i need one costing £55.98+VAT plus wiring that needs to be made up, i guess a la Morpheous.

Basically, can anyone who has done this to a pre-facelift car let me know what the part code was of the correct stalk?

cheers guys,

Tim

No but I'd love to know since mine is pre face lift as well.

Umm I'll try & find out what was fitted to mine - a 98 s4 avant, the cruise went on ages ago bought the stalk & got the local stealer to fit it since I didn't fancy playing with the airbag!

thanks Fade2Grey, that'd be great if you could dig it out. I'm asking VAGparts for the code as well.

cheers,

Tim

right chaps,

I have spoken to VAGparts (very helpful!) and Westec Performance in Newport (S. Wales), who are gonna do the fitment for me. The part code of the correct stalk for PRE-facelift cars is 4D0 953 513M 01C. Or at least, that's what they're gonna fit on my car. I'll confirm if it works or not afterwards as well :D . You also need some wiring, as per mentioned earlier, and i think this needs to be made up specially as Audi don't stock it.

Also, both Westec and Mihnea from MRC confirm that ALL S4 B5s are drive by wire (DBW).

cheers,

Tim

P.S. any news fade2grey on whether thsi is what they fitted to yours?

Flossy, how much is the stalk? If Westec will let you know what wiring needs doing and I'll make a donation....

hi KayGee,

sorry for the delay in reply..... been away. The stalk is £55.98 (plus VAT) IIRC from the good people at VAGparts. I will try and convince Westec to spell out word by word what needs doing wiring-wise. From what was written earlier in this thread I really don't think its too hard to do yourself.... I just think i'd rather get an invoice to say it was done by someone who knows what they're doing rather than me (who doesn't have a frickin' clue :D ).

I'll take along my camera and take some piccies if I can......

HTH

Cheers guys, If S.Wales wasn't such a long drive from Milton Keynes, I'd do the same! Appreciate the info about the part numbers.
