Sorry to get back on topic but the original question was what filter if running 350BHP. all of the filters mentioned will allow sufficient airflow to achieve 350BHP therefore buy the cheapest unless you are planning future mods!
I currently run just a remap and a holey airbox and did some logging last night and achieved a peak maf of 274 g/s and a fats of 4.49 with a new oem paper filter!!! Interestingly peak maf with the old dirty filter was 267 so a 9BHP difference.
so save your money and buy 4 paper filters and change regularly depending on mileage

Can you share any more Julian/Doug/Paz?S4TAN wrote:Just out of interest for all the detractors out there ...... a little while ago Doug did some tests with various panel filters (if I remember correctly they were ITG, K&N, BMC, OEM paper). The tests were conducted on one car, back to back, and the MAF figures were measured .....
Have a guess which filter showed to flow more air than the others .... (by quite a few g/s)
(clue: it wasn't the f*cking paper one!)
I guess we are talking small improvements, but for the relative small cost, I don't mind. So long as there is a gain and it sounds like there is.
So which exact BMC product are we talking about? Any links/pics/prices?
Is it an oiled filter?
Julian - did MRC supply or did you buy elsewhere?
TIA!

Yeah - relatively small improvements across the rev range with the BMC filter. Can't remember the exact details of the graph, but the BMC came out best.
MCB has already linked it in this thread I think.
Yes - filter is oiled, but I de-oiled mine a bit.
Doug/Paz may be able to fill in more detail.

How did you de-oil it?

Used some IPA to seperate the oil out of the filter
