Will you miss the S4 (correct answer here is "yes")
Will you enjoy your diesel (or other) replacement car as much (...!)
According to Tarton Rob's figures you'll save just over £15 a week. Give up smoking (if you do that is), buy two fewer bottles of wine.

TBH I tend to use a Golf GTi for my daily commute now, and the RS4 comes out occasionally and at weekends. The Golf doesn't give me anywhere near the enjoyment and it only gives 8mpg more. The Golf is boring..OK it gets me from A to B but the Audi gets me from A to B with a huge grin on my face.

So for you it's a "head" and "heart" thing really. the head will tell you financially that you ought to change but your heart is telling you to keep the S4.

I dunno how old you are...but you've probably got plenty of time to be sensible later on in life.

Not sure, it's a good example with the good stuff like the electric heated recaro's etc..., probably between 8-9k?

Not modded by me

Either a newer Audi Diesel or a BMW Diesel

Yep....

Probably not

His figures are based on 27mpg, I get 22 lol, I don't smoke any more either, and don't drink that often!

TBH It's not about affording it or not, I can afford the juice, the bills etc... but I really don't like to pay as much as I am now, and for the few chances I do get to give it a blat on the way to work I'm not sure it's worth it!?

Notice you didn't answer the last line.

I think you've got to go with your own conscience really. I know I couldn't sell my RS4, that's why I still have it and use a Golf for work.

I don't know how many S/RS owners have sold up and bought something else...only to return later. Might be worth putting a poll together.

As I said above, you've got to make a choice between head and heart. You're a long time dead, live while you can.

lol I forgot about that bit, I'm a spritely 28! ;)

Think it's like a stale relationship at the mo... I love the car, but not sure I'm in love with it! LOL, It's still fantastic to drive etc... but I'm not sure the grin is there any more...

I think you need Claire Rayner!

Well, it looks like there is only one thing to do then ... sell the S4 (to a forum member?) and chug around in a tractor sounding diesel which will rattle like f**k over the next few months cos it's cold. (Have you guessed I don't like diesels?).

C'mon guys..any more advice out there?

A colleague at work has a 535d sport and averages just 27mpg on his commute to work (stop/start traffic) - not much better than your S4. And diesels not that much cheaper than V-power these days.

Can I recommend hiring a Renault Megane Scenic. Get a 1.4 tdi. 70mpg. 75mph if you are lucky. Garage the S4 so you can't even see it. Drive the megane religiousely for the week and then get into your S4.

Hey presto, instant smile factor + you will relise whetehr you really want or need the S4.

I have to agree with Rob. It's only when you drive other cars that you realise how good the S4 is.

Good call Rob.

French AND diesel. Can't get much worse than that for a comparison!

What do we think? Seems to be a few cheap ones appearing at the mo!

Car went tonight.....

Weirdly enough it went back to the guy who bought it from new... He always regretted selling it, and now he has money has bought it to put in his 'fleet' along with a UR Quattro and some other goodies!

Also found out that he had it mapped, so the car was running an MTM chip, which is think is 305 bhp?

Sad to see it go, but I know it was the right move.... (I think lol)

Dave.

Sad day for you. But I'm sure it won't be long before you're looking in the classifieds or posting a "Wanted" advert.
