Just to update this one - having replaced my Power Steering pump with a brand new one I still get a whine when manovering when stationary & the car is cold. I guess its just a poor design of these. Unless the pressure release valve is separate to the pump?

Don't quote me on this Leon but if I remember correctly the pr valve is part of the rack and requires the rack to be overhaulled...

Oh dear... hope that is not the case, but thanks John. Its not majorly serious... would just be nice not to have the whine when I start up and manover out of parking bays in the morning
