Try this on AW goto Marketplace / Tirerack and choose 2000 or 2001 Audi S4 shows picture of saloon as you click on the wheels it fits them to the picture....

Also largest collection of S4s (180+ pics) with virtually every US wheel posted on AW in one convenient website gallery....

RS4 DTMs are my favourite, new RS4 B7 rims are majorly nice as well......Rochford do those in 18" for £365 no tires.

what size tyres

Post by saf » Sun Apr 09, 2006 1:06 am

What size tyres do I need for 18 x 8.5 alloys. I quite liked the quick silver ones.

Would I have to change anything on the car if I decided to go for these?

Whats difference between 8.5 and 8. Is that width?

It looks wider than normal?

Sorry boutit not being yellow.

I realy like the look of the Imola with the dark wheels. My top choice, but not the wifes :(

I'll just have to be happy with Silver...

Think youd have trouble getting hold of those wheels here in the UK - theyre made by IWC.
The 5 spoke design is similar to the RS6 replicas and a few other makes (loads on Ebay). The safest maximum width on a lowered A4/S4 would be 8.5" any wider and your lookin at having to roll the arches coz of rubbing. An 18 x 8" wide wheel would need 225x 40 x18 possibly 235.

Well hte only thing Ive ever liked about M3's are the way their wheels look so wide. I think wold make the Audi look nice too.

At present I think I have the standard S4 wheels (225,40,17) So going up to a 18 inch wheel would mean a wider tyre, probably 235. When they say 18 x 8.5, does the 8.5 refer to the width? Is it in inches? Doesnt seem so when you convert it .

Does anyone know what the width of a typre thats 18 x 8.5?

Those dark coloured MTM look rims look nice on the yellow S4. Does anywhere do those Wheels apart from MTM? (titanium finish)

18 x 8.5 =235 tyre width

18 x 8 = 225 tyre width

Standard S4 Wheels are 225/45/17

Saf... 235/40.18 is okay for 8.5j, try to get a tyre with a rim protector on it, with 235/40/18's on 8.5j is a little thin on the rim protector side, but the flatness off the tyre(inflated across tread) is alot better than 225/40/18 0n an 8.5j, with 225, on 8.5j its pulliing the tyre at the sides, almost arching the tread area, which i found scrubbed some tyres v.quickly on front,
If your running 8.5j, alot of usa owners have 255/35/18(for rolling dia.) but you may have clearance issues on back of tyres on suspension uprights,
need spacers prob. but also may hit arches if you go out .... so without rolling arches etc... your parameters are a little set.....
235/40/18
255/35/18
These will give you good rolling dia. there is a link on a earlier posting,
about 1 month ago, which gave you rolling circumferences etcc against all dia./width... hth
