I went to my local wheel company this afternoon to discuss it. They will try to fit an 18" RS4 replica tomorrow. However they clearly stated that if the wheels won't fit without spacers, they will not fit the wheels. They are happy to supply spacers to customers, but will not take any responsibility by fitting them.

I'll see what happens tomorrow. I wanted to avoid spacers, and with that advice I'm now fairly against them. Maybe I'll stick with refurbed Avus wheels after all. I am also still concerned about ride harshness with a lower profile tyre...
The 18" RS6 replica in ET35 WILL need spacers to clear your Porsche calliper and you will get rubbing problems. The RS4 replica in ET35 WILL clear your calliper and will not need spacers and will not rub. Ask AMD or hundreds of S4 owners who have done this. Also, do not worry about good quality spacers. Porsche fit them as standard. Also, you will not notice any deteriation in the ride - just a slight sharpening of the steering.
I should have listened to you. After weeks of waiting to have my wheels refurbished (they are supposed to give you a set or maybe 2 exchange wheels and take yours away for a week), I have decided to give up waiting (my tread is really too low now). So I have ordered a set of 18" RS4 replicas with Michelin PS2s.

Thanks for the advice. Also thanks to others for offers of 2nd hand wheels: Much appreciated but I prefer a set of brand new rims.

The only downside is now I'm back to cleaning and polishing my wheels.

Dippy, you should've gone for the OZ superleggeras - it makes the car feel much lighter on its feet - no more swerving to avoid those pot holes - I calculate it will save me a fortune in teeth!

The best place I can find any is on the German Ebay Site!

www.ebay.de

then search for: audi s4 18

not found a replica yet and the dealers want too much for the wheels.... unless you loaded of course.

The trouble is I don't like them. The only wheels I like are the Avus and RS4 replicas. And I see that B6 Avus wheels aren't an attractive option compared to the RS4 replicas...

Hey Dave, are you gonna post up a polaroid of your new wheels on the car ?

I'd be interested to see how they look.

I agree that wheels are a personal preference and that RS4 reps do look good, but lighter alloys DO make a big difference, and for me, I was prepared to compromise outright looks for the associated benefits of reduced un-sprung weight. My favourites are sportec mono 10's, but once again, these weigh in at 29lbs, the OZ's are less than 18lbs.

Do you know how much the RS4 replicas weigh compared to the 17" Avus'?

I think the std 17" Avus is around 29lbs vs 30lbs for a typical RS4 18".

is there a site to find out the weights of wheels or is it a matter of getting them weighed by the wheel dealer?
Cheers

I picked up the weights from here .... http://www.audi-sport.net/ubbthreads/sh ... o=&fpart=1.

This tallies with the info I've seen on AudiWorld before, but I can't be 100% sure of the accuracy.

Also, the RS4 weight will vary due to different widths & manufacturers etc.. I've seen some here ... http://www.1010tires.com/wheel.asp?whee ... l=Audi+RS4 which are 33lb !

Nige.
