I can vouch for this upgrade - I've been out for a spin in Mihnea's car and it's phenominal. The bill is always hard to swallow, they're always huge  but once she's up and running I'm sure it'll all be worth it...

My S2 Coupe was 430hp, not sure how they compare for weight, but that level of power will put you back in your seat in every gear. Puts a grin on your face that makes the hours of overtime worth it  You only live once!!

As for the delays, it's always frustrating, but part of the game I'm afraid. I took my car off the road for 2 weeks and got it back a month later, there were so many unforseen circumstances that neither I or the garage could have forseen. If it's any consolation, when you do finally get the car back you'll be like a child at christmas. Just budget a big fuel bill for the first few weeks, and avoid brick walls

Good luck with the car,

Cheers
Ross

Well as you may have seen on other posts... Doug has managed a 3.6 second FATS time! Which is damn good considering the weight of the audio equipment in the car, the standard S4 tranny + 19" wheels. I will do a few test myself, I should have the car in the next couple hours. My brother is driving it down to me this morning. He has not driven it hard, but has commented on how the car is still an easy everyday driver which is one thing I was a little concerned with.

Yeah, of course he hasn't driven it hard!

Mind if you are still on those slicks, maybe I wouldn't either.

Fingers crossed it's all you wanted. Sounds great.

Brakes not supplied by us! They would not fit on the last set of those wheels someon asked to fit them on but the supplier of th brakes said they definitely would fit.

The 500 kit includes our complete exhaust including downpipes and different inlet manifold - stock downpipes and with cats are always going to be a restriction.

i,m assuming that these mods were discussed with leon before work was carried out..why did no 1 suggest using stock RS4 ex manifolds which must be good for 450 bhp plus and fitting an RS4 inlet intake system and MRC ex system..surely that way he,d be more closer to the 500 bhp figure than he already is..alternatively why not just rip out his main and pre-cats to release some more power..
now im 1 of the few that is lucky to no how much this cost him and for that amount of money i,d want a tad closer to 500 than was gained..

Woody, the RS4 exhaust manifolds are the same as S4 ones and nowhere near any good for decent and reliable 500 crank HP. RS4 intake system? Ok but without the heads there's no point and it would cost loads more, plus you lose loads of low-end by doing so.

IMHO Leon's car is in a decent 470 crank ballpark (3.6 FATS on 19" wheels), which, for stock DPs with no precats and a single 3" exhaust system, plus the standard inlet manifold isn't bad at all. On top of all that, boost is quite moderate, whereas an RS4 would require loads more in order to come close to what Leon has...

That's just my 0.02.

Mihnea

We will stick one of our exhausts and our downpipes on the car FOC just to show what the full MRC500 kit can do .. if he puts that on with the better inlet manifold in the kit, then Leon can decide if he wants to buy it or go with a different exhaust - then he can.

It is my mistake that I did not make it clear that the inlet manifold is not just a prefacelift one but a 2001.5 inlet manifold.

point taken mihnea.. dnt get me wrong im gonna be running MTM ex manifolds but my heads will be 2.4NA so there will be a diff with mine and leons car..
i only have a duel milltek but no main or pre-cats so although it aint a 2.75 the restriction shud be minimal..(i hope)
i have all the RS4 intake system and my only choice is FMIC or RS4 intercoolers....im gonna go for 500BHP or as close as poss..

Simon - I would change the downpipes to totally decatted rs4 ones at least. I know Mihnea has a set for sale!

BTW - the drive in, drive out MRC500 (exactly same as mihneas spec on his car, not inc rs6 EGTs, and not inc flywheel) kit on a healthy stock car that does not need any other work is £11k inc vat fitted. There has not been any 2 cars that the same work has been required though! This is not quite the same as what leon has had fitted.
