Synta Gold is 5W40 and you can get it from the main stealers.

Hello again,

Been told by SEAT that the Synta Gold 5W-40 is being fazed out and has now been replaced by Shell Ultra VX 5W-30. Any reason why I can't use this?

I don't have an Audi dealer particularly local...

Shell is what they use now, however you can still get Synta Gold.

The Shell oil is more expensive

Thanks for all your help.

Managed to get some Synta Gold, got a 5L bottle from Poole Audi and a 1L bottle from Lymington SEAT!

Will I need 6 or 6.5L?

Also, thinking of doing a full service, seen where and how to change the fuel filter, have an oil filter, just need a recommendation on spark plugs if I may!

Seen after searching a lot of people saying they have the Bosch plugs on tuned/mapped cars. Is it worth getting these on a standard S4 or should I use standard plugs. Also...what are the standard plugs, haven't pulled mine out yet.

Thanks again

I had the same dilema with spark plugs when i had my service not so long ago. I went with the RS2 plugs as thats what other member's mainly recommended. If you do a search you will see the thread on spark plugs and you will get the part number for the plugs aswell, if you decide to go with them.
Hmmm, its fast but is it fast enough!!!

Last time I went to GSF they told me they had stopped selling Synta of any colour. My local Audi dealer had one 5L can of Synta Gold, so I walked across the road to VW who had a line of the stuff, and sold it a few quid cheaper... I'll be going straight there in future unless SEAT sell it even cheaper... or what about Skoda?

Just ordered Motul 300v 5w40 from opie. 100GBP for 8 litres. It's group V though so should be good.

I have 6 litres! I've taken the last 5L bottle from Audi and the last 1L bottle from SEAT/Skoda! Just need another 0.5L but no one seems to have any left locally. Going to have to do a road trip just to get some oil!

100 quid all in. Don't know if it's the same. I have dealt with Opie before though so I don't
mind paying a bit more for good service. My oil was packed up and sent out on the day I
ordered it and was waiting for me the day after.
