Just grow a rude beard and forget about sorting the airbags.

Good Point.

You've also got to be very careful with airbag systems. They used to drill it into us about airbag safety (connections, static, battery, etc) in case it went off whilst you were messing about with it.

But that is a nice wheel though, probably the best i've seen.
Why do they call it rush hour when nothing moves!?!

I certainly wouldn't. I wanted to do this from day one, but the airbag aspect totally put me off it.

Looks awesome none the less
What did you do before airbags?
Not drive?

Bloody hell people making such a big fuss

My priorities in life might be different to yours

Plus that was then (w/out airbags), this is now (w/airbags)

IF you want to have a better looking steering wheel, rather than the chances of survival in an accident, then go for it

Plus all of the previous you have quoted was my opinion. You want a better steering wheel, then go for it!

I have to agree. If i can have one i would want one (airbag).

Having ridden motorbikes and crashed, broken bones the lot. Safety is always a piority. As crashes do hurt, well they do on bikes anyway. And must do if your head smacks into a steering wheel and not a cushion of air/nitrogen.

It's all very well saying "just don't crash", etc. I would be very wary of removing it for the sake of cosmetics.

I also agree, sidways into a tree at about 60mph in a MINI wasnt fun... Pretty sure it was the airbags that changed it from life or death. On another note, if the airbag light doesnt come on when its connected, then it should be fine. Even with an airbag light on the can still work, its just there to tell you something isnt quite right in the system. If you hook it up and the light goes out, all should be well.

You've got the pics to prove that too. ;-)

AFAIK, airbag light "ON", means a non functional airbag system, and thus no airbags upon crash!

No air bag light on means resistance is ok but doesnt mean the sensors will definatley trigger the ignitors on the new wheel

Is there not a way\process of testing right up to the 2nd to last component (the last being the bag being actuated).
Thats as good as you'd get in the real world as well.

However that said, I'd not happy with whole safety\vanity trade-off.
OK, if its a straight swap, but otherwise, I'd not bother.

An airbag light on doesnt mean airbags wont go off, its just saying at somepoint something hasnt been right with the system. Usually to high resistance, but even if one connection doesnt work, the other airbags will go off.
