OK, I had a mid-facelift S4 and it had all the external and internal facelift updates with the exception of the digital clock, which AFAIK means it didn't have the CAN-bus. Whilst this wasn't a problem for me, if you plan on installing a later RNS-D or E TFT screen, then it is a lot easier if you buy a car that already has the CAN-bus.

There are varying reports on whether it had the later oil lines (I think this was only post-2000 cars anyway) and updated manifolds (I believe it did).

ESP was an option on my car, but came as standard for later models.

I also have different dates for the mid-facelift - I thought they were from april to october/november 99??

Surely the f-hose deletion was not done to all facelift cars?
Also I think the turbo improvement was ONLY to the oil lines, not the turbos themselves.

As well as the Hitachi MAF and the 4 lamda's, the whole engine is a revised version to meet newer EU emission rules.

Nope, someone picked it up already, only the last of the S4's had it (or didn't have it)
Also I think the turbo improvement was ONLY to the oil lines, not the turbos themselves.
Agreed

A few corrections 8)

Pre-facelift

Plastic number plate suround
Solid rear discs

Mid-face lift

Symphony was an option, not standard
Auto dip mirror as an option on all models
Aluminum door-sill trim strips on all models
Only on RS4
New grille outline same on all models

Few more ...

Heated seats was an option on all cars
Same for ESP, but don't think it was available on pre-facelift cars?
Also, front calipers/pads were different on some mid and post-facelift cars!
Recaros were an option for mid-facelift onwards AFAIK.

Typo on post facelist!

Also,

I think satnav was not an option on pre-facelift,

above should read - Flush mounted headlight washers Only on RS4

| S4 - B5 | Ebony Black | Seit 2002 |

I guess that you're only discussing UK cars? There were other options too, but only for personal imports:

Multifunction steering wheel
Rear acoustic parking sensors
2001 Silver S4 Avant
AmD remap, APR R1 DVs, APR bipipe, Full Miltek exhaust
H&R coilovers, AWE DTS, Porsche front brakes, Short-shifter, 18" RS4 replicas
Defi-HUD boost gauge / turbo-timer (with afterrun pump modification), Phatbox
