OT but - I went to Noel Dazely: declared all my mods and got fully comp (8yrs no-claims bonus) for £415 per year ... Result!

I have to wonder how AWE can claim 460bhp with stock heads & cams, as a stage 3 RS4 is quoted at being 460bhp @ 1.5bar peak. Maybe you need to run crazy boost to get the claimed figures?

Think AWE know their stuff so wouldn't doubt the claim IMHO.

so really apart from the brakes and the parts included in these bolt on kits, the rest of the car is more than upto the challenge and doesn't need any modifying?

Yes, I think it would be a real handful otherwise.

FYI, just checked out Awesome GTi (Manchester) they are uk agents for Apr and they have a K04 kit for 4700 incl vat.

http://goapr.co.uk/k04kits.html

Looks like they are claiming 447hp / 467lbft:

http://goapr.com/Audi/products/27tko4_p ... gures.html

IIRC US 93 octane is roughly equal 95 UK RON.

Not bad 265hp to 447 for 4700 quid, that's 26 quid per hp increase - I think there's only a remap can beat that for bang for buck :-P

Good advice rikrose.
may I also add that remapping may increase BHP but it can shift the torque higher up the rev range and you may be actually slower during in gear increments e.g. 50-70 in 4th/5th/6th
what makes my stock S4 special is the low down grunt and lack of lag, I've driven a 430 bhp K04 S4 and yes it's blindingly quick on the open rod but it has lag at slower speeds which mine doesn't, after all what do you use more, up to 60mph or up to 160 mph?

My stock S4 feels dog slow compared to my remapped one in every way I can quantify it.

Slower off the line, slower thru the gears, needs the gears using more to extract the performance.

For example, my remapped one can sit in 6th at 80 and hit hundred quickly (test track obviously) without changing down.

My stock S4 needs a downchange to keep up, so my remapped one is basically easier to drive - less cog swapping required.

IIRC the remapped one makes it's peak torque at 4800rpm, with about 80% of that from 1800rpm.

I can't recall ever seeing a tuning companies torque curve where the remap makes less than the stock map anywhere throughout the rev range.

CliveH asked Minhea for a remap with mid range as opposed to top end power, which is exactly what I shall be doing just as soon as I can.

That said, all personal preference and each to their own - gimme the remap!
