indeed, although i felt the more compliant standard bushes offered a more resiliant feel to the changes which retains the quality feel of the movement. i suppose in the end it's all down to personal choice

although if anyone wants to speak nicely to HobsonS4.......................
his dad has an engineering firm so he might, for a small consideration, be persuaded to knock up some of the nylon bushes one saturday morning in which case anyone wanting to do the mod could change the rubber bushes for some harder ones. just a thought

Fil, you will have those parts I think watch this great installation video on this site, large file but well worth a view prior to fitting your shifter.

Just fitted my eBay special and had some fun with the install. I'm not the most practical of people, and there's nothing like a spot of DIY to remind me how impatient I am. Luckily for The Blue Thunder I intentionally took the hammer out of my tool box prior to going to the car.
Removed the centre console as it looked impossible to do the job without doing so(pre-facelift). That was the relatively easy part, although I did manage to snap the plastic surround that goes around the stereo/climate control. Oh, and now my stereo doesn't work either. I'll fire up another thread for help with that.
After watching the video and printing off the BM Racing instructions, the main job of removing the old shifter unit was pretty straight forward.
Had a few issues with the eBay special though when I was assembling the shifter:
a) I had to trim down one of the plastic bushes because it was badly machined and wouldn't go through far enough to allow the C-clip to be attached
b) The C-clips were naff and one of them just bent out of shape (trusty superglue now holds one of the bushes... but for how long???)
c) The circlip that came to hold the actual shaft in place was far too small to get on
Pretty happy with the results, although I am needing to get myself down to B&Q tomorrow to get a new circlip (damaged the old one whilst getting it off... DIY rage again!). Took me 4 hours, but that included removing and replacing the centre console. Not bad for a beginner!
