So would you say these are plug n play ( i.e use the existing OEM plug) or do you have to splice into the existing loom to power the HID kit?Tartan_Rob wrote:
For the mains I bought a set of full xenon's from ebay, when I say full, I mean bulbs + ballasts (about £100 + or -). The bulbs clip into original bulb seat and you need to mount the ballast away from the elements....not too hot or where it will get too wet. The power to the ballast is taken directly from the std plug.

I got it off ETKA, both pre and facelift with Xenon dipped are H7 mainbeam.UKS4APR1 wrote:Be careful !!MarkB wrote:Mainbeam is a H7
I think pre-facelift (with seperate indicator unit) is H3 Bulb and facelift (with integrated indicator) is the H7 bulb.
maybe somebody would confirm.
Which temp bulbs are recommended?
Some non Xenon's have H4 bulb, never heard of a H3 bulb

Yeah that was me, I did a wee write up on the install a while back as below:MCB wrote:My eyes are bad now my b****y memory is going anyway a fellow forum member bought a mainbeam HID kit from this chap on eBay:

Had them about 2 months, work very well, ery straightforward. The 1st light might take you 45 mins, the 2nd prob 10.
Search the forum for how to remove the light.
All you need to do is remove the old halogen bulb,
put the new HID in,
drill a big hole in the back plate (the removeable 1 to access the bulb),
wire up (no cutting needed),
mount the ballest which is quite big somewhere near the light cluster in the engine bay. (That was the only pain.)
And Bobs your aunty.
I went for 8000K bulbs for the main, which is a light blueish tint. I think my dip must be 4000K as they are quite yellow.
The flash is more than bright enough, and gives off a good 'strobe' effect, as the on, off time is instant.
A quick search on ebay should get you a kit for much less than 100 nicker
All BLOW and no GO.........
