I bought my RS4 privately and had the Audi warranty put on it - your local dealership should be able to help you out. They do a multi-point check and if it apsses and you buy the warranty then the check is free. If it fails the check or you don't take out the warrnaty then you have to pay for the check - it was £ 130 when I did mine 2 years ago. Their multipoint check is proably not as technically thorough as one done by MRC. The Audi check is pretty basic...
Black round things in each corner...check
Engine...check

etc etc

Lol

RAC checkup is only really any good for inspecting the body work & general mechanics of the car. They wont be able to tell you anything about all the famous issues the 2.7t has. An RAC inspection is worth while, but only if used along wtih a checkup by a 2.7t specialist.

Audi do offer a warranty extension, but not sure if they would offer one outright. Be something like £700-1k and they will not cover anything moddified.

something like £700-1k
And the rest! Renewal this year is £ 1350 odd excluding the Cats. But still worth it in my book.

RAC check up is worth while if buying privately and car isn't near a specialist. It does offer you some protection also.

If you are buying from someone on this board or pistonheads then they shouldn't have any objections to a visit to MRC, QST or other specialist for a check up.

When I last checked Audi warranty needs to run consecutively. Can't be added back to a non warranty Audi. Audi customer services are very helpful. Ring them with chassis number and they'll tell you a lot of info for free.

When you are ready to buy a car. Get carcheck or equifax done. Best £40 you'll ever spend. Only ever do the chassis number check. Will show up any cars that have had a "hair cut".
