KayGee was spot on, although if I'd have raced from the start it would probably have been more.

By the time I was doing the fastest speed I was prepared to go, I was about a car length in front. I feel fairly sure that if I'd have been racing from start it would have been 3-4 lengths.

My car has actually been feeling a bit faster recently. I know that Audi engines have a reputation for taking time to loosen up, but mine's done 59K now!

Andy,

certainly am, Newport Pagnell Aston factory is about 5 mins from my house. Come of M1 at J14, take NP road, as you approach NP roundabout turn right toward Bedford/Olney (If you go straight on you'll come to the old AM factories on the left and right), straight on at the next round about, AM use this stretch of road for "road testing", have done for many years. 200 metres straightish then a gentle left turn that tightens under the bridge then straight road for 3/4 mile uphill. Large Island at the top all the way round and back down the other side. Slow right hander at the bottom of the hill and under the bridge is now scary as hell and offset entry to the first roundabout catches out loads of people who panic brake as they realise there is a 40 foot artic in the road!!!

Next section is pretty straight point to point squirt, next roundabout is tight and officially right hand lane is only one for straight on traffic. Then up a rise following a left handed curve and peak over the M1 and gentle s bend into another roundabout.

Sometimes they go further up to the "new A5D" (20+ years old now!!!) if doing a test drive for a customer but that is the end of the "unofficial road test track".

When Santa Pod weekends are on, it also gets used by a lot of Sant Pod traffic as well....

Dippy, agreed from a standing start you'd put another car length on an M3 easy.

I know the one, that road is deadly, people seem to think its a dual carriageway or something, been a lot of fatals on that stretch in the past few years.

saw a nasty one there a bit ago. Theres a little memorial type thing with loads of flowers etc etc about half way down.

As far as nandos goes, started off with medium and built myself up to hot. Ill happily have extra hot, but the punishment on my porcelain throne the next day isnt worth it. Those peri chips are lovely as well!

Nando I stick to the mild chicken with the medium sauce. Keep forgetting to put a loo roll in the fridge before going out....

Oceania is a good night out, choice of four or five different rooms to play in. Ice bar or the disco room usually and Boudoir if things go well!!!

Ah yes,Oceana. Start off in revolutions, end up in there, and then have to crawl 200metres back to the hotel across the road. Happy days! Meet would be a good idea.

Wise choice kaygee. Never get why when you go on a curry night or something you alwys get one bloke who thinks hes proving something by eating something so hot he goes blind! Speaking of which best indian ive ever been to imo is in MK. That jaipur, lurvely!you ever been?

Old Jaipur in the train station building was my favourite for a long time...now in the new building over the road (looks like Indian palace) too dear IMO. Mysore in NP has won loads of awards. Very good. Passge to India in Stony is also well regarded. I gave up on hot curries years ago, Jalfrezi or chilli chicken is my limit now a days. My brother still eats Phals and the like. Crazy hot!

Mexican tonight, usually Indian on a Thursday, although variety is the spice of life, so Italian, Chinese and Thai are all def. possibilities.

Nandos... MMM!! Whenever I travel to MRC part of the world (My brother lives in Banbury) we end up going to Milton for Nandos... I was born n bred in Africa and so Nandos was as common as KFC/McDonalds is here... and boy oh boy do I love it. Prefer it here as it is a restaurant - in Africa its more of a fast food place.

Aston Martin factory tour in NP is fantastic, its like a trip back through time. Everything in NP is for the old school AMs, they even have a storage department for veneers used on each AM, if you need a replacement fascia they have the next veneer piece labeled and will cut you a matching replacement. Explains the prices....

It is the last original "coachbuilder" car manufacturers in the UK, all bodies are hand built from flat sheet, no lead filler is allowed, everything is hand bashed to perfection, a1 grade. Engines and gearboxes are hand assembled. I've heard they have a tunnel now but when I was young (long time ago) you'd see the bodies being wheeled accross the road to the paint shop!

A lot of people still return their AM to NP for servicing as they know they car will be restored rather than serviced.

What about a standard B5 S4 against an E46 M3? I would have thought the M3 would win comfortably.

I don't really think a modded car against a standard car is a valid comparison.
