Well i fitted my short shifter yesterday which i bought from ebay. Thanks Rich(tricky) for the help
. I set it on the shortest setting, it has made a big difference. It will take a few miles to get used to, i can live with that though
The gear change is stiffer and feels very tight, 1st to 2nd gear is a little notchy nothing major though. Overall i'm very pleased with it. I was going to pay over £200 for one from AMD or the like, but for £46 delivered it's a bargain. It really is a good mod to do if you have'nt already done so

Blimey MikeyQuattro, very impressed you fitted in an hour... took me approx 4 times that!!! Fitted it yesterday... what a fiddle, lost count of the number of times I lost the change rod plate underneath the linkage when reassembling, I even managed to lose one of the bolts down the gap between the linkage housing and exhaustmikeyquattro wrote:Fitted my ss in about an hour.
LUSH!!
Put it on the shortest setting, bit notchy, but well happy for minimal ££

A few notes
1. don't start this job if you've spent all weekend on DIY, and are already tired and brassed off - leave yourself plenty of time (and daylight!)
2. Front reverse pin is VERY tight (you'll need a rubber mallet), which is just as well as my kit didn't include the "nylon rivet" (probably a design change?)
3. The kit's metal push down pin was too tight, once "clicked" into position it didn't allow you to "push down". I used the OEM plastic push down pin instead - no problem.
Impressed with the short throw, bit notchy but OK

Many comments on notchy...
My gear change is already notchy at the best of times and often find myself cringing when driving with enthusiasm... did everyone have slightly notchy changes before the kit was fitted?

Well as I said guys, I had issues with both i have fitted and driven on......
Lets hope your plastic bucket with nipple stay intact, otherwise you may get some rotation on the stick and bugger up the reverse gate or selector....
thats why I wrote about opening up the groove with a dremmel to allow use of more durable product in kit....
Both were notchy, but loosened up in time, silicon grease is good to go on shifters...
blue tack for selector bolts below access points .. and coat hangers...
just as david said... daylight - not tired or narked ....

Yep, have mine on the shortest setting. As previously suggested, it took a day to get used to. I just need to adjust the stick a bit further back towards the driver to achieve perfection.
Overall, it's more rewarding to use than std, but not recommended for Sunday drivers
(Rolski - had read your previous comments, but don't own a dremmel and by then the DIY stores were closed...)
My std linkage was a bit stiff selecting first, and my wife always had trouble getting reverse. In hindsight, notchy is probably not the right word... it's a positive change, slightly noisier, you have to be more assertive with the stick movement and you'll feel the change in the palm of your hand.ZeroK66 wrote:Many comments on notchy...
