Thank guys,
I'm getting around 19.1mpg at the moment but most of the mileage is stop start. The thing that is really confusing is that when I have filled to the brim the needle never used to move until I'd done 40ish miles, my computer would read an estimate of over 300 miles available and I got over 170 miles to half a tank. Now the needle has dropped before I even reach 20 miles, my computer estimates I'll only get 240 miles to the tank and my light comes on at around 170 miles..? To me it is pointing to the tank having more fuel in it than it is actually reading which would explain why I'm unable to put more in when I fill up.
Doing me ed in..!
Shane

I've just done a run down from Newcastle to Reading yesterday - 27.3mpg at an average of 63miles/hour so not all that bad - that said, I used to get just over 30 on a run like that, I'm putting it down to the cold :)

Is your S4 standard to get that MPG or is it chipped and you avoid the "Go" pedal?

I used to get 27 mpg with stage 2+ on a long run and average 23/4 mpg but I do 46 miles a day to and from work, so that helps greatly.

I have an MRC remap and it's been running awesome for months and fuel has not been an issue. I am currently on 85 miles and I'm down to almost half a tank..?

Shagga,

I've always thought my fuel consumption to be poor, averaging around the 21mpg mark. I also have MRC remap and mpg hasnt really changed since the remap.

Even when I drive really sedately (rare occurrence!), I struggle to get anywhere near 25mpg.

I get poor fuel consumption from all the vehicles I've had purely due to the nature of the journeys I mainly do. Start up, drive for 10 minutes on urban roads, then switch off. The car has just about warmed up by the time I stop.

I don't trust the fuel computers to be that accurate. The only definate telling is tank full to tank full and note the mileage.

And a bit off topic here I know but...
Chiphazard, you go through the blackwall tunnel during rush hour every day?!!!
I know sitting inside the S4 is a nice place to be but that's a horrible journey.

OK, so everyone is getting less MPG in the cold weather. Those doing short journeys are affected even more so. Pretty conclusive our cars run richer in the cold. Pretty much what I would expect.

Case closed?

At this time of year I'd be in the S4 as well. Bikes are OK in the summer, but brass monkeys and all that... :FIREdevil:

Much more fun on a dirt bike at this time of year, especially as it's a very loud one that tends to deafen people when i'm in the tunnel
