Fontain now down to £1680 all in (incl VAT) AMD are slightly less but the petrol and time to go there evens it up.
Thats RS4 Reps with Goodyear F1s
H&R lowering springs
All fitting.
I am hoping to trade in my Avus wheels and tyres for £100 - £150 (the wheels are a bit shabby) so that will make it £1500 almost. Not bad. Well, a lot better than they orginally quoted.
Shows you've got to haggle.
RS4 Wheels
New wheels are on (18" RS4 replicas and Goodyear F1s), Eibach 30mm lowering springs and the car looks and feels great! The wheels just make the car look newer and the lowering is not extreme but just gives the car a more agressive stance. Will hopefully post some pics soon.
Cant say enough good things about Fontain (Chas Lawler in particular), the level of customer service is very high. Just wish I had enough cash to have bought the 512 bhp MTM'd RS6 Avant they have there at the moment......

Only a few days late...DavidT wrote:Come to think of it, Dippy has them now with H&R coilovers and his car is pretty low.
He'll be along to put your mind at rest later
AmD put the H&R coilovers on my car and lowered it to whatever they though best. I believe it is around 25-30mm.
I then agonised over getting new wheels, and did so in the end because getting my 17" Avus's properly refurbed was too much hassle and my tyres were illegal.
So in the end I took the gamble and got some 18"x8 ET35 RS4 reps with 225/18/40 PS2s. All-in (4 wheels) it was just over £1K from Elite in Reading.
Although for a while I was concerned about rubbing, it has been a couple of months now and I don't think there is a problem. It is true that when cornering very hard, cornering hard when a decline levels (e.g. a sloping driveway) or when turning over a speed-bump, the tyre does rub on the wheel-well liner. However it is light rubbing and due to the flexibility of the liner no damage is being done.
Because the wheels are ET35 they do stick out more. However I think this is good because now the wheels line up with the arches so IMO it looks better. It also shows how much my car is lowered because it is actually difficult for me to get my flat hand through the gap at the top of the tyre (front wheel)!
When I next take my car to AmD I may get the suspension raised by perhaps 5mm. The only reason is that I am worried that with the car fully loaded with luggage I may have problems.
And finally I think the PS2's are great tyres, the best I have had (although that only includes Pirelli P6000 which we know are crap, the PS1's and the Toyo Proxes). However, and this may be significant, the PS2's appear to have a more 'rounded' cross-section than other tyres I have seen. This may mean that they are less prone to rubbing in these circumstances.

Thanks - am hoping rubbing will not be a problem,
In the end I did put my old wheels on ebay and really wish I hadnt! Got a load of annoying questions (will your wheels fit my Fiat Panda etc etc) and then got messed around by the winning bidder (only £255) and so I thought stuff it and traded them in to Fontain!
I am avoiding ebay from now on after a few bad experiences.
