I have 18x5 ET35 RS4 replicas with 225/18/40 Michelin PS2s. My car is lowered (buy quite a lot). The tyres do rub if there is serious compression whilst turning, such as turning on a speed bump or when road levels out after coming down a decline. However I keep checking my tyres and it looks like the rubbing is nothing to worry about. However I do note that the cross-sectional profile of the PS2s is more rounded than other tyres I have seen.

BTW the PS2s are the best tyres I have had - by far!

Nige, you still haven't told me why you advise that the double-drilled RS4 replicas should be avoided???

Hi Dippy, you should see what it does to Gy F1s with 235/40 tyres on et35, it can leave quite deep grooves in the tyre side wall which are quite scary. The worst is when you are at full spring compression and turning as well. If you are unlucky the tyre turning can actually deform the folded inner lip of the wheel arch, this deformation of the inner lip (unfolds) sticks out and cuts a groove into the tyres the next time it rubs. I've got some quite scary photos i took cos at first i thought someone was vandalising my tyre.
You said your profile was 18x5 ET35 RS4, did you mean 18x8.5 ET35 RS4 or 18x8 ET35 RS4?

5x112 for the S8`s S4`s RS4`s and all “proper” Audis......

5x100 for the TT`s S3`s etc..........

Nearly forgot the 5x130 on the RS2`s they are "proper" as well

Dave, common sense really ... 1.6 tonnes and 300+ bhp + the possibility of track days must present a risk (however slight) that the alloy might fracture due to the 10 holes as opposed to 5 on an OEM alloy. If it was that simple, you would find Audi selling double-crilled alloys, but they supply a different wheel for the various PCD's around (unless you know different?).

Nige.

"Proper" is defined as Audis with 5 or more cylinders for those that have asked!!
