I've got an imola S4 Avant had the same problem your going through.

I eventualy bought. The price was right and the car was / is a good one fully loaded.

What did it for me was seeing it in the flesh. Being an Audi it's not in your face with whale tails etc. so it makes what is a very subtle car a little bit special.

PS Apparently the stats say a yellow car is the safest colour!

Just wish it had the RS4's body. Hhmmm there's 15K RS4 Imola for sale.......

Must admit i toyed with the idea when i had my S4 avant then went for a kinfisher blue which was ok but just ok never had the balls to get a yellow one.i'v seen Golich's Yellow peril in the flesh and it's smart a real eye catcher it even grew on the wife after aday on the road but i don't think i would swap it for the blue flash

Hi Steve,

I'm almost emmbarrased to say I haven't got round to it yet. Although... it could happen over the next couple of weeks. I'm getting the peril ready for sale - I think

Specialist theives are getting an Avis RS in hopefully today with 27K miles I'm seriously thinking about. We'll see what nick it's in and what deal we can come too.

Mine needs a couple of things done to get it back to A1 and the radio is one of them. OOOoo we shall see..

Re: Imola yellow - good or bad? WRC UPDATE!

Post by SJS » Mon Oct 27, 2003 8:49 pm

Just back from Catalunya WRC. Totally class week of which there were many highlights. On the way into Lloret de mar on Tue we saw the subaru team parked up beside a Marquee well hidden off the road. We managed to get in after a bit of sweet talking and there were both the cars up on stands, ready to rock n' roll, plenty of pics taken

On Wed we were out doing a bit of looking round the shakedown stage, when we rounded a corner and ther was richard burns and robert reid stepping out of an evo7 doing a bit of reccing themselves.....managed to get a photo with him and a bit of crack. Seems a decent fella...quite embarrased to be getting his photo taken when not in overalls.

Thursday shakedown was pure class, probably the best day in my opinion. All the top cars testing repeatedly over a short stage, plenty of very close up action (ie.cars about a foot away from you ) Down to the service before and met them all, Panizzi, Solberg, Gronholm, Sainz, Makkinen, Burns ...totally class.

The rally days were very good as well, albeit with very early starts... 5am / 6am. We saw 2 stages a day, anymore than that and you would probably have difficulty moving about.

Saturday was timed to perfection after leaving the rally. The WRC cars had to go to service then back to Lloret, we met and were passed by them all. I was in the back seat looking back expectantly..... "holy sh*t..there is soming coming low and fast..." Makkinen went past us like we were standing still ( video will be available..it was caught on camera). Then solberg appeared, we managed to get in behind him and follow him through a tunnel...even flashing the lights at him to get outta the road Burns appeared as well, left indicator on permanently. The noise of those cars in the tunnels is incredible.

The sunday was pishing rain...morn to night. Ive never been as wet through rain in my life, its hard to be prepared that far away from home. Seeing the cars go sideways at the viaduct ( panizzi doughnut last year) was cool, gronholm was the sharpest through there both times..incredible pace.

All pics and videos will be available over the next few days at www.jon44w.com check it out, report will be up from tomorrow morning.
There are some awesome pics and vids. All in all it was a fantastic and cheap week. With the ability to meet and shake the hands of the "best" drivers in the world....where else can you do that?

Get it booked for next year!

Fit like Golich Well i'm sure you'll be sad to see the yellow peril go after all the mod's but if you get the RS4 i'm sure you'll be pleased with it. have you had a test drive yet and if so how dose it compare to your one? Shocked to hear that you've not repaired the radio yet how long has that been

Aye Aye Steve,

I test drove one of Specialist thieves RS4s about 7 months ago. That's what sold it for me over either an M3 or a new S4.

There is very little noticeable difference on driving an RS over my chipped S4. Well certainly the one I drove. Which is understandable when you look at the torque from a standard RS. It’s actually less than a chipped S4!

The biggest difference is; where it is worth while holding the revs in the stock RS to over 6000rpm it’s pointless holding the revs past 5000rpm in my S4 as its clear the KKO3s don't have the volumetric capacity.

Common sense is telling me to hold off buying an RS to the start of the year as the dealers can’t hold this £36K carry on much longer there are always more than 12 avail at any one time in fact the old S4 seems to be rarer!

Funny the dealer wants the same price for this 27K mile car as he did for the last 25K one 7 months ago – this one has less spec!

I'm confident it won't be too much longer till we see a steady stream of RS4s around the 30K mark as they will all be 3 years old next year some 4. There's always plenty to choose from.

Sorry for hijacking the post folks but it is RS chat
